The first thing that came to me was the first stanza of the chorus. It popped into my head while I was packing to go on vacation, and it seemed like a wonderful metaphor for what was on my mind.

This song could really be geared to two different guys, but I tend to think it's more for Greg. And Greg, I don't think you realized it, but you hurt me way more than you thought. And no, I don't really mean everything here, It's more of a metaphor for leaving the pain behind.

Saying Goodbye
June 24th, 2005

How cruel a memory
Won't let me forget
That fateful day
When you and I met

Hopeless daydreams
Became reality
Little did I know
What was coming to me

------chorus--------
Packing up
I'm ready to go
Ready to leave
Ready and so

I let your face
Blur in my mind
It's time to forget
All our good times

And though it is hard
You won't see me cry
I'll miss you, I know
But I'm saying goodbye
-------------------

What happened to us?
I still don't know
But my heart still cries out
When you say hello

But I've got to let go
Gotta close my eyes
To those visions of you
That won't leave my mind

------chorus--------
Packing up
I'm ready to go
Ready to leave
Ready and so

I let your face
Blur in my mind
It's time to forget
All our good times

And though it is hard
You won't see me cry
I'll miss you, I know
But I'm saying goodbye
-------------------

Can't say that I'm sorry
Why should I be?
Weren't you the one
Who did this to me?

And I hope you know
That I'm not the same
There's no turning back
You won't hurt me again

------chorus--------
Packing up
I'm ready to go
Ready to leave
Ready and so

I let your face
Blur in my mind
It's time to forget
All our good times

And though it is hard
You won't see me cry
I'll miss you, I know
But I'm saying goodbye

I'll miss you, I know
But I'm saying goodbye

I'll miss you, I know
But I'm saying goodbye
