Hello everyone!

I don't know how many of you who still have this story on your author alert list still use this email, or even know who or what this is, but hi. I'm Jessica Wright, and I'm here writing about Child of the Sword, a story I wrote five years ago.

First of all, allow me to explain why I stopped writing Alyssa's story: for one, I was twelve. I was frustrated with the predictable nature of the plot, the relationship between Damir and Alyssa that I didn't want, and my consistent battles with the lengths of the chapters, the depressing nature of the action and the time skips I forced the story through for the plot arc.

For another...I was twelve.

I've avoided this story for about five years because I hated it that much. But recently, just out of morbid curiosity, I found myself returning to read it to see just what it was about this story that had everyone flocking to it. And the funny thing? I really liked it. I enjoyed the humor, the word-play between the characters, the strength of Alyssa and the easy-to-follow plots, the exact things I have recently avoided. Oh, sure, it wasn't great. The chapters were short, there were too few characters, and the romance between Alyssa and Damir was rushed and uncomfortable...just like I was at the time. But it was good, and it had potential. HAS potential.

So now, five years later, I'm going to try and rewrite it, starting with NaNoWriMo. I won't be doing JUST this, however. I'm also trying my hand at a vampire story, and I will juggle the two. But for those of you who WERE fans of this, thank you so much for all your support. I really wish I had appreciated it at the time. And, for those of you who are just reading this story now...well, hope you stick around for the rewritten version!

P.S.-ping me if you have a better title. Please. That's all that bugs me about this story.

Thanks!

-Jess
