"Whispered Screams"
E.M. Hunton

Tattered
broken
torn
shattered
hardened heart
by love made soft
tears of anguish
on my face
falling
streaming
kept by God's
abundant grace
yet nothing matters

little things
cause great frustration
loneliness
worthlessness
grief
yet nothing matters

God where are you?
You whisper
to me
I am here
daughter
give me your fear
daughter
I keep your tears
daughter
my love is enough
it covers your shame
your pain
I am enough
I am all you need
trust in me

I give you my eyes
daughter
Let me see your face
Father
show me you're here
Father
Hold me near
Father

Again in the silence
you whisper to me
in a tone of love
and mercy
you hold me close
you stroke my hair
you wipe my tears
from my face
and you say
"I am all that matters"

you indeed
matter most
all else fails
you will prosper me
I am not hard
although broken
these cracks
simply provide a window
for you to shine
through me
work in me
radiate
from my face
you're drawing me closer
through your embrace

you say:
sweet daughter
all is well
I hear your cries
I know your heart
and I love your honesty
honestly
Oh father
thank you
for holding me
