A/N: The idea for this came, in part, from my trip to Washington DC recently. When we visited the Wall honoring those killed in action or who went missing in action, I saw my father cry for the first time. It made me want to know more about it and when I started reading up on it, I also watched We Were Soldiers and listened to Charlie Daniels' song, Still in Saigon. Both of them combined led to this. I hope this touches you in some way, as it has touched me.

They
say the screams will forever pierce the night
They
say the blood will forever stain the skin
They
say the memories will forever be remembered
No
matter how hard they try to forget
They
say their lives are forever changed
They
say their families are forever wondering
They
say their friends are forever dead
But
they live on
They
say the jungle will forever be haunted
They
say the skies will forever be full of noise
They
say the night will forever go on
Though
dawn always comes
They
say the screams will forever pierce the night
They
say the silence will too
