I keep my heart in a steel box,

Clamps shutting it tight,

Keeping its treasure safe,

Safe from the constant pain,

Holding it out of reach from the vain,

The steel box is small,

Though the contents were once whole,

Now they lay shattered, beaten against the wall,

My steel box has no key,

For never do I plan to release the pieces,

Inside they will stay forever,

No longer able to withstand the pain,

I deny its cries for love
