When the sunlight shines
Fills the world with endless wonder
Lights up the world for us
As the skies shimmer
Shines on the trees
Majestic and tall
The flowers
So tender and small
Shines reflections off the stream
Our hair as golden thread
Bodies shining with glowing sheen

But why?

Why does it also shine
On concrete
That sucks up the light
Greedily keeps it to itself
Keeping the cities grey?
Why does it have to struggle
Through clouds of smog
And pollution?
Why does the shimmer of empty cans
And plastic bottles
Obstruct our vision
From the the trees
Majestic and tall
The flowers
So tender and small
Shining reflections off the stream
Our hair as golden thread
And bodies shining with glowing sheen?
