Tears
The raindrops falling to the ground
With an extraordinary sound
The pitter-patter of the drops
Upon the road and on rooftops.
The sound of thunderclaps at night
Can give a child quite a fright
The flash of lightning come and gone
Can flicker houselights off and on.
The scent of dewdrops on the grass
Is hidden by windows made of glass
And songbirds singing melodies
Can put a person quite at ease.
The sun peeks out to show its face
To keep us warm in time of haste
To dry up tears that hit the ground
From hurtful words spread all around.
So even if we're not the same
Don't force someone to feel the shame
The shame of being shunned away
For it will hurt them everyday.
