Chapter 15. Truth
Alison came back to her room. She was exhausted. She spent some time asking questions to the witnesses but she couldn't take it anymore. Her questioning wasn't going anywhere fast. Most of the time, they would loop around and they never progressed beyond the well know facts. She wasn't discouraged enough to give up but she certainly wasn't pleased with how things were going. Thankfully, she had help. Elizabeth seemed like a trustworthy person. She was fearful but her suspicious nature made her very cooperative. Her social skills and status gave her great possibilities of successfully achieving her goals. Alison's questioning was too blunt and intimidating; people tended not to be open during their discussions. In many ways, Elizabeth was far better off. Alison felt confident enough in her new friend that she could finally rest with her husband. She entered the room and sighed in relief that she was where she wanted to be. She approached her husband with a smile on her face. Just looking at him sleep made her feel safe. She could easily forget about the stress of their situation for as long as she's with Steve. She took her clothes off and slipped under the sheets. She observed her lover for a moment and gently caressed his warm ribs. For someone who had two bullet holes in him, he didn't seem in any pain at all. He slept peacefully as he always did… or at least every time his wife was around, that's how he slept. Alison gave him some room. She didn't want to roll over in the blood stained towel that lay underneath him. Instead, she just lied down next to him and held his hand against her belly and fell asleep.
Many hours later, Steve woke up. He was very pleased to see that his wife was with him. He expected her to end up working all night and morning just to clear everything up for that was the seriousness of the situation. The sight that she was sleeping next to him, away from their troubles with a smile on her face, made him feel like nothing bad could ever happen to them. Something else was wandering in his mind though. He had very strange dreams but he could finally understand some of them. There was something he had learned from them and he had to see if they were true. He looked at the ceiling and focused on his dreams. He closed his eyes to enhance the details of his visions and opened them again. He knew what he had been dreaming about but he couldn't be sure how to relate to what he saw. He had to find a way to explore the validity of what he learned. He looked at the hand that was pressing his own on the belly of his wife and smiled. He delicately slid his hand out of her grip. He could see that the sudden emptiness left by his action has suddenly influenced his wife's mood. The smile she had was fading. Steve bent over her and kissed her belly where his hand had been and stroked her wife's hand to reassure her. Her smile grew back instantly. Steve giggled and got out of the bed. He looked around the room and found some patches that his wife must have left there for him to cover his wounds. He took the dirty towel off the bed, wiped whatever blood he had left off of his body and patched the wounds. His leg was feeling much better now. It was similar to how his shoulder was before he slept. It didn't hurt anymore. His arm regained a wide range of motion and it was painless to do so for as long as he didn't apply too much force or stretched it too much. His leg was still limited to short movements like the limping he experienced but at least the pain subsided. He put his clothes on and Strolled around the room to concentrate more on the dream he had.
Over an hour later, Alison woke up to find her bed empty. It was rare that she woke up after her lover but he had been in bed for a very long time. She looked around the room and noticed that her husband was staring at a wall with his chin in his hand and his other arm on his hip. He looked like he was focusing.
"Honey, what time is it? Did I oversleep?" Alison asked softly. Steve approached a desk and looked at the clock.
"Why don't you turn on the light my sweet?" Alison smirked at the sight of her husband trying to read in the dark.
"I can read it perfectly. It's 8 pm. The sun is probably still up." Steve said.
"You can read that?" Alison looked at the old fashion clock on the desk. It had black arrows and the cover in the back had broken off long ago. When you looked at the arrows, they would blend in with the mechanisms behind them and in the dark, they were difficult to make out.
"I can see things…" Steve began.
"What things? What can you see?" Alison was curious.
"Many things. New things. I see perfectly well in the dark for example but that's not all. I can see things that are elsewhere. It's hard to describe. It really depends what I'm thinking about at the particular time and then I can see certain things." Steve said vaguely.
"Come here, let's talk about it." Alison invited her husband to bed with open arms. Steve smiled and cuddled against his naked wife and kept her warm in his arms.
"Tell me everything; what can you see when you think about me?" Alison smiled.
"I just see you like I always do. Only wait… there's something else." Steve squinted as stared deep in his wife's beautiful eyes. Alison looked back into his and noticed something change in his eyes. There was a faint illumination reflecting from the corners of his eyelids. That illumination grew brighter and brighter and covered his eyes completely in the purest white glow Alison had ever seen. She had to squint to readjust to all the light that was coming from her husband. She placed her hand on his cheek and observed what was going on. Steve stroked her arm to give her confidence that he was not uncomfortable with his new found skill. He looked lost in his thought for a moment. Alison pet his cheek to gain back his attention. Steve blinked and the light started to fade. He still looked lost.
"What is it honey?" Alison asked curiously
"I see eternity, life and great power. I also see happiness and warmth." Steve said slowly.
"Are you a fortune teller now?" Alison teased. The look on Steve's face was serious.
"No. This isn't the future. It's different. I can't explain it really. I see things and then after, I can associate them with… feelings and words. I think I saw who you dreamed about… Life… the woman you dreamed of… my mother. The goddess of life. Yes that's it. That's what I saw." Steve said.
"You saw her?" Alison was surprised.
"Yes, it's like she's constantly watching over you. I never saw her before but I know it's her. She's here somewhere… I just can't… I can't seem to focus." Steve said while placing his hand on his forehead and closing his eyes. Alison rubbed his chest with her hand.
"Are you ok dear?" She asked worriedly and continued stroking his chest to gain his attention.
"I'm fine. I'm just a little confused. You said you saw her in your dreams… what did she tell you again?" Steve asked.
"Just that I had to look after her son. She also said she gave me immortality." Alison said.
"Her son. I can feel it. She's my mother. She really is. I don't know how but it's true. Truth, that's it!" Steve looked back in Alison's eyes with a look of excitement.
"What honey? What truth?" Alison asked.
"THE truth. That's what I see. That's what I can see!" Steve said, happy of his new discovery.
"Is that what happened when your eyes glowed?" Alison asked.
"What? My eyes glowed?" Steve asked curiously. Alison laughed.
"You mean you didn't realize it?" She continued laughing.
"No. Not at all. It's weird though; I can't seem to be able to focus on anything else. It's like it takes all of my mind just to be able to see this truth." Steve said seriously.
"Well they glowed like streetlights but with the most amazing shade of white I've ever seen." Alison said.
"White? Interesting." Steve pondered what she said.
"Does that surprise you?" She teased her husband.
"Well I just wasn't expecting it. I don't know… I guess I should be discrete the next time I do that." Steve said worriedly.
"Right, of course you should be." Alison confirmed.
"You said you saw other things before I woke up…" Alison whispered.
"Yes… yes I did. I was thinking about Elizabeth. She knows something. She has information for you." Steve said.
"That's it?" Alison was surprised.
"I'm sorry Alison; I can't seem to control it. It's not like I can get exactly what I want. Maybe there's no more truth than that." Steve said honestly. Alison stoked his chest lovingly to calm him down.
"Shush. It's ok. Don't worry about it. I think that skill has great potential. I trust in your powers." Alison whispered.
"You do?" Steve asked. Alison smirked and nodded before laying a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Absolutely." She confirmed.
"You think it can be useful?" Steve asked.
"I know it is. Believe me, I KNOW it is." Alison said.
"What do you mean?" Steve asked.
"I know what you are. I really know." Alison said simply. Steve looked at her attentively, begging her to continue.
"What am I?" Steve asked anxious for an answer.
"You're a half-god." Alison said honestly.
"What?" Steve was surprised of the words she used.
"Yes, half-god." Alison confirmed with a smile.
"If I was, I would know wouldn't I?" Her husband was confused.
"You do know. You know who your parents are. They are Gods Steve, Gods! They're real. We aren't making this up my love, we really aren't." Alison reassured him.
"But… why am I half-god?" Steve was still uncertain.
"I don't know. I think your human but you have some obvious characteristics that aren't. But you were once fully human. Don't you understand?" Alison asked softly.
"You're changing into something. You're becoming more and more like your parents… Life and Death I mean." Alison continued when she saw he still wasn't convinced.
"Then how come I didn't even know about them? And why is this all happening now anyway?" Steve was curious.
"I don't know that but you will learn it eventually." Alison smiled at the confidence she had in her theory.
"What about my other parents? My biological parents? What are they in all of this?" Steve was confused. Alison rolled on top of him and looked him deep in the eyes.
"They are your human family. Just like I had one and just like everyone else had one. That makes you half-god." Alison said convincingly.
"I see what you mean. But I really don't think I'm half-god. Something's missing in all of this. How can a human be a god at the same time? I don't think that's possible." Steve shook his head.
"You're not a god… but maybe you will be." Alison explained her theory.
"You mean I'm like a… like a test?" Steve asked. Alison nodded and smiled to see that her husband finally understood.
"It makes sense doesn't it? If you were a god, you wouldn't need my protection would you? And you mother wouldn't ask me to watch over you if you didn't need my help to pass this test." Alison explained.
"What do you think this test is?" Her lover asked.
"I think they want to make you into one of them; into a god. But they limited your development. Look at your shoulder for example: you still belong here with the rest of your kind. You're mortal Steve. That's why you need me." Alison smiled.
"But if Death is my father and Life is my mother, then how could I ever die?" Steve asked curiously.
"I suppose that's part of the test. They could easily make you live forever but that's not what they want is it?" Alison said. Steve shrugged.
"Why a test? Shouldn't gods know everything?" Steve was curious.
"That's probably untrue. How can anyone or anything know everything? I mean look at your back: no one has ever seen both symbols combined like that but us. I think things are constantly changing in our realm as well as theirs. Your mother and father must have united just recently. And you are recent as well." Alison said.
"I like the sound of that…" Steve smirked.
"What? Recent?" Alison repeated with a laugh.
"It's better than young isn't it?" Steve said. Alison giggled and hugged her husband tenderly.
"There's nothing wrong with young my love." The vampire said before caressing her husband in a most loving way.
"I love you so much." Steve moaned in joy and comfort. Suddenly, there was knocking at the door.
Alison jumped off her husband and put her clothes on pressingly.
"Who is it?" She asked.
"It's Elizabeth." A woman on the other side of the door said. Alison kicked the dirty towel under the bed and opened the door.
"I have information for you. I didn't want to bother you until night." The older vampire said.
"Did you even sleep?" Alison asked.
"Well yes." Elizabeth smiled.
"Can I come in?" The greeter asked the younger vampire.
"Of course. Come." Alison invited the older woman to a couch. She opened a light to a dim glow. She could see that her husband looked a little uneasy.
"It's ok Steve, she's a friend. Come sit with us my dear." Alison whispered softly. Elizabeth smiled at Steve to show him her friendliness. Steve smiled back and got off the bed. He limped all the way to the couch and sat next to his wife, hand in hand.
"Did you get shot in the leg too?" The older vampire asked in concern. Steve nodded.
"Well, anyway, Alison, I spoke to Stray and I have what you asked me." The greeter reached in her pocket and took out a small list of people. Alison was relieved to find out it was a small list.
"How did you get this?" Alison was impressed.
"You don't want to know." Elizabeth said while looking at her feet.
"You didn't have to put yourself through anything… inappropriate to get it did you?" Alison asked in concern. She noticed a hesitation in the older vampire.
"Elizabeth? How did you get this?" Alison asked softly while waving the list in the air.
"Well if you must know, I sleep around a lot ok?" Elizabeth admitted in shame.
"I wouldn't ask you to do anything like that to get this for me…" Alison said sadly.
"It's not like it's your fault… I do it all the time. I'm not as lucky as you are. I need some attention too you know? I don't have a husband like you do; I have to get if from… Can we just not talk about this?" Elizabeth said.
"Of course, I mean no disrespect… Thank you for this." Alison said hesitantly.
"You're upset about something." Steve observed the older vampire.
"I said I don't want to talk about it anymore." Elizabeth said in a respectable way.
"No, it's something else. You want something…" Steve began. Elizabeth looked at him attentively and frowned.
"Never mind. You don't want to talk about that either and I respect that. When you're ready though, well be here for you. Right Alison?" Steve said.
"Of course. Elizabeth you're welcome to talk to us about anything." Alison confirmed.
"I'm sure you don't want to hear about my problems." Elizabeth sighed.
"Why not? We all have problems but you helped us, maybe we can help you." Alison suggested.
"Very well; I don't want to be a greeter anymore." Elizabeth said plainly.
"But you're so good at it." Steve was quick to say. He silenced himself after, realizing that it was inappropriate to say that. Elizabeth recognized the compliment and smiled at Alison's young husband.
"I know. That's not the problem. The problem is that no one takes me seriously. It's hard for me to get anything done around just because I'm the greeter. It's like people don't want to believe I can do anything else." Elizabeth sighed.
"Don't say that. You have great potential and you're a good person. I'm sure people notice that about you." Alison tried to reassure her friend.
"No, they don't. Just… just look at what happened last night… at what I had to do just to get the list…" Elizabeth said sadly.
"What do you mean?" Steve was curious.
"I mean the people I'm with… or been with… don't seem to care at all about that part of me. It's like I'm nothing to them but a pretty face with good manners." Elizabeth admitted.
"I think you have a wonderful personality. You're very polite and it's because you're a caring person. It's not because of your manners that people like you." Steve said.
"Well they don't seem to care about what I want. How can a greeter do anything else around here? I'd like to do some important things and no one cares. I got lucky with this… assignment. I had to spy on you but anyone could have done that. Everyone just thinks I'm useless. That's what I have to live with." Elizabeth sighed in desperation and held her face in her hands.
"Don't be so hard on yourself. Listen, I can't do much about that right now but if I can… you can be sure I will. In the mean time, try not to think that way. You have to take yourself seriously before anyone else will. Stay true to yourself, Elizabeth." Alison suggested. The older vampire nodded.
"What's going on tonight?" Alison asked after a brief pause.
"Nothing tonight. But Stray's organizing something for tomorrow. There's going to be a big meeting in London. I don't think Stray's going but his father will be there along with his whole house. There will be representatives of the Coven from all over the world." Elizabeth said.
"The summit… that's tomorrow?" Alison asked surprised.
"The summit? You know what's happening tomorrow?" Elizabeth asked.
"Well yes. But there are very few of us who are… allowed to know. I'm sorry; it's just for safety reasons. This summit is about Stray… well not directly. They're looking into the leaders all around the world and they just want to make sure they're going in the right direction." Alison said.
"If it's about Stray and his ways than why isn't he going to be there?" Elizabeth asked curiously.
"He can be if he wants to but I think his father will represent him this time." Alison said.
"Shouldn't he represent himself? I mean his father has different policies…" Elizabeth stated her observation.
"You'll have to talk to Stray about that. I'm sure he prepared his father for this. He probably figured his presence is needed somewhere else but where?" Alison said, thinking out loud.
"What can be more important than the other leaders, his followers? Nothing's more important to him…" Elizabeth said. Alison didn't know the answer to that question. She shrugged and gave her lover a curious look.
"Steve? Can you think about Stray for me?" Alison asked. Steve looked surprised at the request. Elizabeth felt lost; she didn't understand what was going on.
"I can try." Steve said. He focused a moment and let his wife comfort him with her arms. He stared at the sofa and waited. His eyes started to glow like before. Elizabeth almost fell off the couch in shock. She wasn't expecting anything like that. She had almost forgotten that Steve wasn't what he appeared to be. Steve got off the couch and turned his attention at the wall. Alison followed him and provided support for her husband as he limped away from the couch. He kept his focus on one spot and his eyes kept glowing for a minute. They stopped glowing and he grabbed his wife for more support as he felt the inside of his wounded leg move.
"Are you ok honey?" Alison asked in concern after catching her falling husband.
"Yes, I'm fine. I just need to sit down." Steve said. Alison helped him back on the couch. Steve sighed for a moment.
"What did you see?" Alison asked.
"I'm still thinking…" Steve closed his eyes and concentrated. There was a pause and Alison noticed the great confusion in Elizabeth's eyes.
"He has… special abilities. He just discovered this one this morning." Alison said plainly. Elizabeth frowned in confusion.
"He's not a demon, he's a… a pre-god." Alison said.
"A what?" Elizabeth had no idea what that was.
"A pre-god… I'll explain it later. Steve?" Alison turned her attention to her husband.
"I saw it… there's nothing to worry about. He's legit. I saw nothing but good things. I can't tell exactly what he's up to… like I said; it's not the future I see." Steve said.
"But you interpret it as a good thing right?" Alison asked. Steve nodded.
"That's all I wanted to know." Alison smiled. Steve hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.
"Thank you very much Elizabeth. I'll take care of this list; you don't have to worry about a thing." Alison smiled in confidence. With Steve, she could clear the list in no time.
"You're very welcome. If you need anything else, Mr. and Misses Banks, don't be shy." Elizabeth smiled and left the room.
"I suppose I have to introduce you to all the people on the list… though I'm not sure about one of them. This may take longer than I thought… The last one on the list is Stray's father. He lives in London. Maybe we should keep that one for later… that is if all other suspects are found innocent." Alison said while carefully reviewing the list.
"I guess that's how it has to be… but I'm not ready to travel with my wounded leg. Is there a way you can get them to come to me instead?" Steve asked.
"That would be the best thing to do. I suppose on Stray's authority I can get people to do anything. I'll do that. I'll set up a conference room and get the secretaries to make the important calls." Alison said.
"Sure, I can do that. So we interview them and, when they leave, I do my thing?" Steve revised Alison's plan. Alison smiled and nodded.
"You may want to concentrate on the old fashion way of doing things anyway… just in case my… power… doesn't work. You know I can't control it well yet." Steve mentioned.
"Of course my love. You just do what you do; I'll be just fine. I've met most of these people before. For what it's worth, I have my every confidence in you." Alison smirked and gave her husband a hug to comfort him.
"I appreciate that. I'm just saying that it isn't a good time to take anything for granted." Steve said worriedly.
"I agree. I better get the messages sent to the offices right away. I'll bring you something to eat. I'll be back in a flash my love." His wife said before leaving.
Alison and Steve sat quietly at the table and waited for their first suspect to show up. They sat next to each other and waited patiently. It didn't take long for the first one to show up. Alison questioned him and found nothing of interest. She did that over and over again. She respected most of them and they respected her back. There was nothing she could find that was unusual in her interviews. Her husband looked interested just because it was his chance to meet some of the people in the main house. To his surprise, he found that most of them showed respect towards him.
"Alison, I've been meaning to ask you; is everyone polite in this country or is it just the people in this house?" Steve asked curiously. Alison let out a soft laugh.
"That's a curious question. I think most people here are that way; that's how we were brought up." Alison said.
"So everyone's nice around here?" Steve smiled.
"More or less. Sometimes you can see through their politeness and find unpleasant things but most of the time it's sincere." Alison observed.
"Speaking of which, you still haven't found anything have you?" Alison asked. Steve shook his head.
"We only have a few more people on the list. Let's take a break." Alison suggested.
"I'm all for that. What do you want to do?" Steve asked.
"I'd like to see if we can get Elizabeth to spend time with us." Alison said.
"It's good that you're befriending her. She seems like a nice woman. Actually, she IS a nice woman, I know that." Steve smiled.
"She is isn't she?" Alison smirked.
"Steve, can you swim? I mean with your injuries? If you're up to it, I think water will do you good; it'll relieve the stress on your leg and let the blood circulate properly." Alison suggested.
"I think so. But what if there are others there?" Steve asked.
"We'll just close the door and lock it. I'll put a sign up that says do not disturb." Alison said.
"Ok. Let's go." Steve smiled.
Steve sat at the side of the pool and waited for his wife to return with their newfound friend Elizabeth. She was happy to receive the invitation and she couldn't refuse.
"Hello Steve." She smiled as she came in the room.
"I'm glad you decided to join us." Steve replied happily. The woman looked anxious to jump in the pool. She took off most of her clothes and jewelry and got in before anyone else. Steve made sure his bandages were skintight so that the water wouldn't leak in. He hesitated to join the women and sat on the side of the pool instead.
"What's the matter honey?" Alison asked.
"Nothing. I just don't want to get in just yet." Steve replied.
"Why not?" Alison asked in a friendly way.
"I get cold pretty fast in a pool." Steve admitted.
"Come on. I'll keep you warm." Alison teased. She placed her hands around his thighs and pulled him closer to her. When he was just on the edge, she wrapped her arms around his torso and tilted backwards, pulling him into the water with her. Steve hugged her gently and let himself fall with her. Alison tackled her husband underwater for a moment. She was playing around with him. She cuddled against him and prevented him from reaching the surface. She finally let her husband back up for air. She looked at his smile and laughed with him. She tackled him underwater again. Elizabeth just looked at the couple with an amused face. It was funny to her how the strongest vampire in the coven would play fight with a young and wounded human. To her surprise, Steve was actually doing well though it was obvious that his wife was being very careful with him. There was a moment where they both got carried away by the simple pleasure of their play fighting. They wrestled underwater as if they were almost really fighting. Elizabeth was slightly concerned and she swam closer to the couple. She pressed a hand on each of them. The coupled stopped instantly and looked at her.
"What's wrong?" They both asked in concern.
"Nothing, I was just scared that you guys were actually fighting. The water was shaking very roughly." Elizabeth was relived by the big smiles that were directed at her.
"We're just playing." They both replied at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed before continuing. Steve was having too much fun to feel that his body was moving around from the inside. Alison held him in a lock for a while then Steve twisted around and sent her down to the bottom of the pool with him. He broke free and came up for air. He let his wife do the same and she attacked him again. She got around him and climbed on his back. She held him tightly between her thighs and tightened her arm around his neck. Steve grabbed the arm that was around him and pulled it back where it came from. He felt his fist strike his wife's face while he did it though. He honestly never expected to be able to over power anyone from that position. And to do that to Alison of all people was almost impossible. Alison let him go instantly and stepped back reflexively. Steve turned around to see how she was doing. She held her nose with both her hands.
"You broke my nose." His wife said seriously as she inspected the blood that was escaping her nostrils and leaking past the hands that covered it.
"I'm…. I'm so sorry." Steve said in disbelief and concern. He approached his wife and rubbed her shoulders. Alison let go of her nose so Steve could take a look at it.
"I can't believe I did that. I'm so sorry." He said in the most sincere of apologies. He hugged her delicately. Alison hugged him back and giggled. Elizabeth looked at Alison very oddly. She had no clue why she would giggle after having her nose broken.
"It's ok my love. I can heal like you wouldn't believe. Look at me now." Alison said while she backed up from her lover to look at her face. She threw some water on her face and cleared off the rest of the blood. Her nose looked like it was in perfect condition again.
"Is it for real?" Her husband looked at her in dismay. Alison grabbed one of her husbands hand and held it in front of her face.
"Touch it you'll see. It doesn't even hurt anymore." Alison giggled some more. Steve smiled and touched her small nose. He rubbed it gently and kissed her after.
"Wow." Elizabeth was still confused. The couple stopped their kissing and turned their attention back to the greeter.
"I… Well I said I would explain a few things to you so I guess this is a good time for that." Alison smiled at Elizabeth's shocked state. She swam around her lover and held him tightly against her breast. She swam with him until they were very close to Elizabeth.
"Like I said before, Steve's a pre-god. That's because of his parents… well his other parents. What I mean is, he has human parents but he also has divine parents. They gave me this power… well his mother actually. The godess of life." Alison smiled.
"So you… you can heal really fast?" Elizabeth was confused.
"Actually, I can't die. I really can't. I had over twenty bullets in me at a point in time during our last mission. I also lost almost all of my blood. But I just healed. I just came right back to health." Alison confessed. Steve smiled at the comfort that brought to him and cuddled his cheek against his wife's cheek. They both smiled and looked at Elizabeth. The older vampire froze to think about it and then nodded slowly.
"And his parents are gods?" Elizabeth asked.
"Life and Death. That's what the tattoo on his back says." Alison explained.
"The god of life and the god of death?" Elizabeth was still confused.
"Yes. Well it's easier if you just call them Life and Death because they don't really have names." Alison explained.
"Ok. Ok. I believe you." Elizabeth smiled.
"You do?" Steve was surprised.
"I do." Elizabeth confirmed. The couple smiled in relief.
"Hey, how did you break my nose anyway?" Alison whispered in her husband's ears.
"I… I just tried to get your arm off of my neck." Steve said.
"True; but my bones are supposed to be much harder than yours." Alison said.
"Well I guess they aren't. This happened during the mission too. I… I did some things… I didn't think I could do any of it. My muscles changed and I became… very dangerous. I guess that just happened now. I wasn't paying attention. I'm sorry." Steve said.
"It's ok, really. I'm perfectly fine. I'm actually really happy that you have this strength. It'll really help you." Alison said.
"It wasn't just that. There's a lot more about me that I still don't understand but I felt some things on the last mission. And I killed people very quickly… It's like my mind and my body both work so much better now." Steve admitted.
"Well what kind of things did you do?" Alison was curious.
"Are you sure you want to know?" Steve asked. Alison nodded and kissed him on the cheek to reassure him.
"What about you Elizabeth? Are you sure you want to hear any of this?" Steve asked the greeter.
"I'm actually very curious about this. Please, go on." She smiled.
"Well for one thing, I'll never have to learn how to use a gun. It's like I have everything calculated in my mind and every shot I fire lands perfectly well on whatever target there is. Secondly… I have insane reflexes… like you already felt I guess… I'm sorry about that Alison…" Steve apologized to his wife yet again.
"Shush. It's ok. Really. I love you so much." Alison rubbed her lips against his cheeks while she said it.
"Well anyway… I reflexively pulled someone's heart out with my fist…" Steve said carefully.
"You what?" Elizabeth was caught by surprise.
"There was a rebel and I… I drove my hand through his chest and pulled out his heart. It just happened. I was just as confused as the other vampire behind him…" Steve continued.
"You did that?" Alison was impressed.
"I don't even think I can do that…" His wife continued.
"Well it's not something I would suggest to anyone… it really wasn't a pleasurable experience." Steve said seriously. Alison couldn't help but laugh even if she knew he was serious.
"I'm sorry honey; it's just that I really don't see you doing that." Alison said.
"Well I have no intention of doing it again." Steve whispered.
"I know. I'm proud of you anyway." Alison whispered back.
"I appreciate that. I was really scared but I'm better now. I understand more of what's happening and it's because of you my love. Thank you for supporting me so much." Steve said.
"You're very welcome." His wife responded. There was a short pause.
"So how are the interviews going?" Elizabeth finally changed the subject.
"We haven't found anything yet. We'll find what we need to eventually though." Alison reassured her friend.
"I think we should all get back to our duties. This was fun. We should definitely do this again sometime." Elizabeth smirked before she exited the water. Alison soon followed. She helped her husband out of the pool and took a good look at his arm.
"It's back to normal now. I still feel human." Steve reassured her.
"Can you control it?" Alison asked.
"I think so." Steve nodded.
"That's good. That's very good. I'll get you a towel." Alison smiled and followed Elizabeth in the changing room.
