Winter's Assassin

It creeps in every alleyway,

Cold behind its glacial mask.

It hides in every forest hut,

Cramped in every water flask.

Cold, cold, it creeps, it hides.

And in the summer its time it bides.

Cold, cold, you must beware,

Beware of cold, the angry bear.

Frozen trees just standing there,

Standing in the chilly air,

Cold has grabbed them by their backs,

Unable to relax.

Cold to the marrow,

Cold to the bone.

Cold is a darkness

That has never shone.
