When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do that
You find someone to carry you

We always thought we'd never live through the war
But its the real world I couldn't survive
I remember your words of punch-drunk wisdom
"God won't let us die, we are so very pretty"
I know you and Zoe carried me through the war
Now I need to ask you to carry me a little farther
If you can
I'm just trying to get get home

When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do that
And, well, when you can't do that
You know the rest

Here's my corpse on the floor of your ship
Most of the crew won't understand
This trip is out of the way
And more difficult than I'd have imagined
Don't look behind you know
You're being followed and their leaving a trail of dead
You tell the doctor to find out what I did
I'll wake up in the infirmary
"Hey cap, hey Zoe"

When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do...
Well you know

I'll explain everything, you'll tell me nothing
I'll lie silent in a bunk with Kaylee
We hear explosions from above
I told you what I stole from them
I'll tell you to run away
But for the safety of the crew
You'll botch up all my plans
At gun point you'll do what I say
I'll run away from you
"Zoe you shot me"
"Goddamn right" she says
I run down the hall and hook Kaylee around the neck
"You like me? Well we're going for a ride"
Kaylee screams "You're bleeding"
"Yeah they shot me" I panic whipping around
They tricked me and knocked me out

When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do that
I'm thinking of giving up

The men show up who's chasing us
Cap and Zoe and all of the crew get them away
"So this was the plan all along?
I'm so sorry I did this to you"
I cough up blood and tip over onto Cap
"When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do that...
And when you...
When you can't do that..."
Zoe says "You get someone to carry you"
"You will help me? You'll get me home?"
Cap nods, it was the last thing I ever saw

We always thought we'd never live through the war
But it was the real world I couldn't survive
You carried me through-out the war
And I need you to carry me a bit further
If you can
I need to go home, to let my parents bury me
When you can't walk, you crawl
And when you can't do that...
Well, you know the rest, don't you?
