The night is
lovely, dark, and deep;
And the darkness stretches
far.
And it protects me as I sleep
From the heat of day's
bright star.
The painful feelings of the day,
Once more
slowly washed away
By the waves of darkest night
Which remove
the pain of light.
Last night was able to remove the pain
And so will tonight once again.
And I will be able to, for a
while,
Face tomorrow with a smile.
