In the Tears of the Innocent

How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
- Isaiah 14:12-15

A long, long time ago, Onero, the King of the planet Heaven, reigned supreme, and it was good. But then a darkness gathered and Onero's enemies rose against him in force and he gathered his forces to do battle, but when he arrived at the battlefield, his enemies had disappeared.

When Onero returned to his kingdom in Heaven, he grew worried. "Where," he thought, "have my enemies gone?" He called meetings and wondered and pondered and thought until one day he came to a conclusion, "They must," he exclaimed, "be hiding amongst us! Our enemies are amongst us!" And so Onero issued uniforms to identify the deviants and installed surveillance to find the criminals and created the Terrestrial Regulate to enforce his word.

Some of his subjects resented these restrictions on their lives, and so they formed a resistance and bound themselves to each other in a pact to go always with each other. They had success after success, and they thought that they could not be defeated. But therein lay their downfall. And so the Brotherhood fell to the sin of Pride and so the Brotherhood fell to the Terrestrial Regulate and so its members became the Fallen.
