She sat on the edge of her bed, her head down and eyes closed as she silently wept. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest as the tears fell from her pale, fragile cheeks. Her body was shaking with fear. She didn't want to get hurt again, she didn't want to be torn apart.
Why was love such a confusing thing? She loved someone else, and now that she was here, even if it felt different, it still frightened her. She was the one that had fixed her heart, sewn it up when it was in shreds, picked it up off the bottom of her soul when it was shattered.
Her dark hair fell into her face, sheltering her eyes. She wrapped her arms around her knees, pulling them to her chest. "Why do you love me, Alyson?" She asked, turning to face her tears running down.
Alyson looked over to her, her own face filled with sorrow. She didn't like seeing Celeste like this.. It was too painful, for them both. Her heart ached, seeing the tears fall from her cheeks. She stepped closer to her and kneeled in front of the bed. She looked up into Celeste's beautiful blue eyes and put her hand underneath her cheek. "Please… Don't cry?" She asked. "I love you, Celeste, because you saved me; my soul from falling away. Now, I must save yours." She put her hands to both of Celeste's cheeks and wiped the tears away right below her eyes with her thumb. "I love you… I am not him. I will never, ever.. Hurt you." Alyson whispered, wrapping her arms around her neck and pulling the sobbing girl closer. "I will never hurt you, alright?" She told her, stroking her hair. "You'll be okay… I promise."
Celeste held onto Alyson tightly wrapping her arms around her waist and pulling her closer. She sobbed, finally letting all of it drain from her eyes, the tears soaking Alyson's black shirt. "I'm just.. so frightened…" She whispered, closing her eyes. "Please, just hold me." She pled, pulling Alyson closer, almost on her lap. "Hold me…?" She cried.
Alyson held her tighter and tighter, kissing her forehead. "I will do as you say, my love. You'll be okay, I'll protect you."
