part 1: Birth.
Sad! Sad! Ha, says I, do not be afraid!
I shall lead you into the darkest path
And you shall change, I shall will it!
With this change you shall leap into the mortal world
And smite their ignorance and their hatred
For you, o child born of green, you are good.
From thy brow greatness shall exist
And none, None! shall deny it or you
And you shall live forever, I shall will it!
part 2: Problems.
Lo! Your problems far out weigh your obesity.
Your heavy mind is only just before your heavy heart
And your heavy heart is only just before your heavy feet.
But do not be so burdened, for I will release you
As all must do for each other.
But heed this warning: If you are freed,
Make it your priority to do the same for others
Lest tragedy befall you.
part 3: Comfort.
Beware lest tragedy befall thee.
Should the Grim claim thy loved ones
Or the black cat instigate mishaps on thy path,
Those around thee shall label thee 'survivor'
And thou shalt accept it, and come to love it.
As the battle of despair and confusion comes over thee,
Be prepared for a flagrant misuse of friendship.
Those who believe they have claim on thee will offer
Words of comfort,
Throwing empty shells of unused and undeveloped emotion
At thy feet, encouraging thee to take it for thy own.
'Take comfort in this,' they say
'Or take comfort in that.'
They will say to thee, their own friend, anything so that
They might shift thy weight from their shameless shoulders
And move onto their own pleasures.
They push thee towards materialism,
Asking nothing in return for their comfort
Except that one day thou wilt offer comfort to them
When their plight far outweighs thy own.
part 4: Relapse.
You know the all-too familiar story:
Relapse!
Giving it up just to take it again.
Bringing it back to your lips, lighting it again, as though the last time was not enough.
You bring yourself death.
Holding her to you, as though the last one's skin did not satisfy your lust.
You bring yourself sin.
Working long hours just to spend your money on the pleasures of the tongue, as though it nourished you.
You bring yourself disease.
Think! Be strong!
part 5: Addiction.
One last time won't hurt
They'll never know.
part 6: Conformity.
'Join us!' says the procrastinators.
'Join us!' says the selfish.
'Join us!' says the consumers, the sellers.
'Join us!' says the smokers, the drinkers.
'Join us!' says those lost to lust.
'Join us!' says those lost to drugs.
'Join us!' says the sinners, "Join us and be satisfied!"
And you will.
part 7: Death.
You pushed the envelope too far this time
And you have died.
From what? Who can say?
Was it a car accident? Did you slip into a pool and drown?
Did you fall asleep unaware of fire?
Was it disease or a malfunction of the brain?
Did you jump, or swallow the pills?
Did you pull the trigger?
Maybe you suffered in the end.
Maybe you screamed for help.
But we shall forever remember your noble struggle
And we will bury you with your things.
part 8: Remembrance.
Today we remember you, o long dead friend.
We shall ignore that you were easy with yourself
And that you thought we did not know what you were doing.
We shall pretend you were not cruel, and emotional, and illogical.
We shall ignore the suffering you caused.
We shall only remember that you were good,
And we will make your memory proud.
Fin.
