Autumn Blues
Walking down this painted drive
Of crimson leaves and golden rays
And vibrant shades of tangerine
I look upon another passing
Summer's lost and gone again
And Autumn greets with quiet remorse
Of sunny days and clear blue skies
Time to shed our care-free airs
And don a gown of solemn layers
Watch the dance of rustling leaves
And listen to that age-old song
Wind's caress along my face
Brambles brush against my legs
Wrapped inside a fuzzy scarf
Grandma knit the year before
Rose and amber calls the night
I hesitate a sigh exhaled
For winter cometh next in line
