Sonnet I

Give me hope, if only just a glimmer,
When from my sight your smile seems to fade.
Look me in the eyes, lest yours grow dimmer,
As shadows of our doubt our dreams invade.
Take my hands in yours; I would not resist,
I know you fear my fear would lead me thence-
To back away, and evermore subsist
Within my hardened heart's frigid defense.
But melt it Love, the frozen heart to free,
Teach my fears and tensions to surrender,
Then at your voice the doubts and dreads would flee,
And at your touch my hardened heart grows tender.
And all my faults your loving voice redeems,
But Love, you only speak to me in dreams.
