lessons in living
i give you a reel of flesh
a bundle of bones
a clutter of thoughts
two eyes for seeing
two hands for searching
and a tongue for questions
-
i lost the conscience
and you threw away hope
rationality was broken
compassion was flawed
take away the heart
its blackened and hard
foresight
well that is superfluous
and empathy must have been discarded somewhere along the line
the eyes seem to see only darkness
and the hands failed to feel
only touch
and the tongue
the tongue
was much sharper than expected
-
but take this skin
take this hair
now try to build a man
