A Gothic Christmas

A Christmas story by writerforever

Dedicated to my best friend, Corinne.

"Merry Christmas!"

"Thank you so much. God bless and Merry Christmas!"

"Ho ho ho Merry Christmas kids!"

Those are three of my most famous lines. I say them at least a million times every Friday during the most festive time of year. You'd think I'd get tired of saying those three lines (and many more just like them) over and over each and every Friday but surprisingly I don't. As a matter of fact…I love it! I love everything about Christmas. The bright lights, the Christmas decorations, the mouth-watering food, the Christmas songs that play endlessly on the radio during the holiday, the fluffy snow, gosh I love it all.

Maybe it's because I never really had much of Christmas in my house when I was kid. My mom left my dad when I was twelve so my dad didn't even bother to put up any Christmas lights or decorations or anything. I didn't even have a grandmother's house to go to cause my grandma got run over by a reindeer, well technically not a reindeer but a deer just the same. Well the deer didn't exactly run over my grandma, she kind of hit it with her car and it came through the windshield and…

I miss my grandma a lot but she went out during her most favorite time of year, Christmas. My dad is always saying that I get my love for Christmas from grandma. Maybe so, who knows? All I know is I love Christmas.

I'm eighteen, single, living in my own little apartment in Irvine, Kentucky. I've got a job at a local café and also a part time job at a newspaper office. But during the Christmas holidays I have a job as a 'fake' Santa Clause. I go and visit all the people at the hospitals and nursing homes. Oh and I also do charity work on Fridays. I stand out in the freezing cold dressed in my bright red Santa costume ringing a little bell and hoping and praying people will put some money in the charity bucket. I know what you're thinking, "Who would want to do something like that? Who would want to dress up as Santa Clause and go visit a bunch of old people who are about to croak?"

Well I guess you could label me as weird/strange/crazy/eccentric and all the above. (by the way I am all those that I mentioned and much more)

But to me this job during the Christmas holidays is everything, it's wonderful. I enjoy it so much and that's all that really matters.

Now to get to the story.

Well this story takes place in the year of 2005 during my most favorite time of the year…Christmas! (in case you didn't already know that)

This story takes place in December and I was busy decorating my apartment for Christmas. I was so excited and I couldn't wait for Christmas to get into swing. I felt like a little kid or something (and probably acted like one too) but I was so happy. I thought this Christmas was going to be like all the others. Boy was I wrong.

To Be Continued…
