A note to any and all readers: these oneshots do not go in any specific order - meaning that there is nothing that you need to read before you read one of these, and you're free to skip around as much as you wish. The characters, though they have the same names, DO change in personality (I'd like to think) and scenarios. There is also a chapter story, Water Break, that includes the same names, though different characters. So, just to avoid any confusion, and if you have any more questions, feel free to email or PM me with it, I'm more than happy to answer.

He whimpered as soon as the next boom of thunder hit his ears.

"Shh, Mitch. It's okay. Only rain and thunder..." I soothed. Mitch was obviously terrified of thunderstorms. "Only rain and thunder,"

"Ryan..." he whispered, closing his eyes at the new clap of thunder. "Ryan, I'm scared,"

"I know, but you shouldn't be. There's nothing to be afraid of,"

He was soon calmed down enough to sleep, and that's what he did.

I was on my way to dreamland myself before he sat straight up and screamed bloody murder. "RYAN!"

"I'm right here, love, don't worry," I said loud enough for him to hear me through the noise of the storm.

Someone knocked on the wall and yelled, "STOP HAVING SEX, YOU FAGS!"

I stood up, soothingly told Mitch to wait a minute, he'd be ok, and walked next door.

"Mr. Variano. One: we may be fags, but at least we're in a relationship where someone loves us. Two: we're not having sex. Mitch is terrified of thunderstorms. So, kindly leave us alone,"

When I got back to our room, Mitch was crying, whimpering, and hugging a pillow very tight.

Another clap of thunder got another yelp from Mitch.

"Honey, it's only thunder. Thunder can't hurt you,"

"Ryan, It's...It's not the actual storm-well, some of it is-it's what happened one night when it was thunder storming," Mitch whispered.

"Do you want to tell me?"

He nodded.

"Are you going to tell me?"

"May 24, 1997, Mom left. I graduated that day and she didn't go. I hated graduation because of her, Ryan, and it's her fault about what dad did to me!"

I stood there, unknowing if he wanted me to hug him or not.

"My current boyfriend, JT, didn't even care. He dumped me two weeks after graduation anyway. Then Dad started raping me. That night and it was raining. I was reading, and he waltzed right in and raped me. Every time there's a storm, I keep getting flashbacks...How he thrust into me every time the thunder would clap...The weight on top of me..."

I thought for a moment as Mitch dwelled in his memories. "What do you like to do most, Mitch?"

"Besides spending time with you? Or having sex with you?" I nodded. "Playing my guitar, running, watching movies, being held in your arms..."

"Okay. So...let's watch a movie. One of your favorite pastimes is obviously spending time with me, so let's replace bad memories with good ones,"

Mitch smiled. I sat down on the couch and pulled him closer to me.

A clap of thunder sounded.

"Are you still scared?"

"Not nearly as much,"
