I colored outside the lines

Of a rose-colored heart

You traced on your forearm,

In washable marker.

But it never occurred to me

You would scrub me away

With just soap and water.

I tattooed your name

Along my collarbone.

It's my promise

To follow you,

And you will never scrape it away,

Not with your butter knife.

And even when your attempts will leave me bloody,

They will never leave me scarred.
