An invitation I've been dying for
Drawing the breath from me
Anticipating it the entire week
Drowning in the possibilities
That await me.
But word spreads
On wings of infidelities
And there's something you forgot to tell me.
And how I despise you for it
The important little detail you left out,
Only shows me I'm mistaken
When I thought you might be different
And how cliché this sounds
But even stereotypes hold their truths.
It's opening night at the theater.
A romance film debuts tonight.
Front row seats for heartbreak?
I think I'll pass, but thanks.
And so Friday night reopens.
