Stage Tenderness

On stage her voice is silenced,
Her moves limited
All as if to be restrained with a cage
The spotlight's on her
But she can't move
The audience stares,
Waiting for the amazing magic
She'll produce
All is quiet, all waiting for the pin
To drop
The audience is growing tired
She's not making magic happen
But it's not her fault, don't they see?
Restrained, "I can't" she mouths
But no sound escapes
Her body seems almost too heavy
To move
The audience disappears
They've had enough of this
They wanted a show
The spotlight fades away from her
Before her trembling lips move
Or a single tear can drop.
