The Devil Doesn't Have Blue Eyes

the devil doesn't have blue eyes

even though she said so
but she lies about so much
so why do I believe her now
because the devil can't have these
vanilla-sky-blue eyes with the streaks
of ash in between the black and blue
but it doesn't even matter because

the devil doesn't have blue eyes

she always talked about the days
that fell with the girl she knew
and that large-hearted boy she loved
but the heart was made of paper
which tore to pieces as the minutes
rock-and-rolled by, leaving her
oh-so-alone and it was just because

the devil doesn't have blue eyes

she's sitting in another puddle
after the rainstorm of gumdrops
and the phonecalls made of static
don't matter with all of her lies
and the large-hearted boy and girl
ran away the other night, telling
nothings-but-I-love-yous because

the devil doesn't have blue eyes
