Pamela smiled and took Brittany into her arms carefully. The baby whimpered slightly, but eventually settled down. "My sweet baby," she whispered patting the top of Brittany's back softly. "I am going to take care of you now. You don't worry about a thing, because I am going to be your mommy now."
She looked around the empty motel room and smiled. The plan was working perfectly, she had snuck out with Brittany, hid out for day, and when everything was quiet and they couldn't be found anymore, she would leave the state and raise Brittany on her own, the proper way.
'They don't know how to raise a baby,' Pamela said to herself. 'They wouldn't know the first thing about raising a child, and that stupid idiot who got my precious daughter knocked up should be hung from nearest tree.'
She stopped in mid sentence when she heard a knock at the door. Quietly she lay Brittany down on the bed and moved to the door.
"May I help you," she said politely opening the door. She stared straight at the officer and prayed this wasn't the end of her plan.
"Ma'am," he said tipping his cowboy hat down in front. His voice was calm and had a deep southern accent attached to it. "We are looking for a kidnapper, a woman going by the name of Pamela. She stole a baby, and we need to find the child. If you have any information it would be most helpful."
Pamela swallowed the lump in her throat and held the door close to her body. "I am sorry, but I don't know anything about any kidnapper. I really wish I could help, but I am alone, never even had kids myself." Pamela paused and tried her best to smile at the officer, but he didn't smile back.
"Well thanks anyway," the officer said, he was about to walk away when a suspicious noise caught his attention. He was for sure he heard a baby whimpering in the background. Stepping up to the door, he tried hard to look past the woman, but the room was completely dark inside.
"Is there anyone in there," he asked. "I was sure I heard a baby crying," he said looking at the woman.
"Must be the TV," Pamela said smiling. "If you will excuse me officer I must get back to my dinner, I am sure it is getting cold by now."
"Well thank you," the officer said walking away.
Once inside his car he picked up his radio and pushed the button. "Yeah this is Officer Taylor. I think we have our suspect and the baby, alive. I am calling for backup. We need to move quickly, before she gets spooked and runs."
The officer jumped into his car and drove away slowly, knowing this had to be the person they were looking for. The woman matched the description, he was sure she had a baby in there, and most of all she was acting overly nervous the entire time, a sure sign she was guilty.
Well what did you think? I know it was short, but maybe you will like it. Please review!
