Author's Note: A little different from my usual. This is sort of a retrospective song written in the third person.

You slept with your friend's brother at ten

You slept with your boyfriend's sister at fifteen

Your lack of self-esteem & many insecurities were showing through again

So it's good you didn't pay any mind to what was said about you

There are only two people who know what went on on those benches

You're one of them & whoever you were with that night's the other

That's how you chose to deal with those problems

But now that's over & you need to find a way to heal

You were never the same after those nights

And you'll never be the way you were before they got to you

You tried to close your eyes

And hoped everything would be better when you opened them again

But it was often only worse

There are only two people who know what went on on those benches

You're one of them & whoever you were with that night's the other

That's how you chose to deal with those problems

But now that's over & you need to find a way to heal

You've come a long way

How you did it I don't know

But when you woke up that day you seemed finally ready to put that in the past

Move on & start to heal from what's in your past

There are only two people who know what went on on those benches

You're one of them & whoever you were with that night's the other

That's how you chose to deal with those problems

But now that's over & you need to find a way to heal

It's not an easy thing to do

The damage was done

But no one else has to know

And maybe now you can heal

Just know it wasn't your fault

And you're not alone
