Runaway Beagle
A Beagle with no collar roams into Kroger
His mind isn't on getting petted
He can smell the Rotisseree chicken
The land of plenty is here
A veritable garden of Eden
But he is smart
Despite getting put out numerous times
He waits for the automatic doors to open
A young clerk watches for him
Blocking his possible entry
Yet once the clerk is distracted by work
The young dog runs back in
As cute as the brown-eyed fellow is
I pray he finds his Master
Because such a sweet, smart Beagle
Shouldn't be alone in the world
But I am certain loving arms
Will pick him up and hold him tight
Once he is back to the place he truly belongs.
