If it weren't for you maturity none of this would have happened.
"Hello, my name is Mr. Heath-" My best friend Xabrina leaned over and I braced myself for some corny remark, she was famous for them.
"More like Mr. Hot." What did I say? Corny. Though I had to admit that Mr. Heath was good looking. His hair was a dark brown and fell around his face and covered his forehead, but it didn't fall into his bright blue eyes that crinkled when he smiled. Oh and that smile! It was wide and showed all his white, straight teeth and made you want to smile right along with him. He was tall, a good head and shoulders taller than me which made him south of 6 foot. Even with the khaki slacks and button up dark blue shirt on, it was easy to tell he was built.
"Your teacher is going on maternity leave for the next four or five months so I'm your sub until than." Mr. Heath continued on as everyone whispered to each other. I could hear the girls giggling insanely and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Hello people, this guy was a teacher! Why would he want to like any giggling high school girls when he's probably got older ones lining up for him? Stupid idiots. "Yes?" I looked over my shoulder, to a girl in the back who had her hand raised high in the air.
"Can we ask you some questions? To, like, get to know you better?" I folded my arms on my desk and rested my head in them, looking at Mr. Heath.
"Sure." He smiled his 100 watt smile which made a couple girls giggle. I crossed my eyes in annoyance. Great, for up to 5 months I was going to have to listen to these giggling Barbie dolls.
"How old are you?" A girl shouted out.
"24." He announced and I looked at him and wondered what would possess someone to go back to school when they just got out? He leaned against the wall behind him and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" I groaned quietly to myself but Xabrina must have heard me because she grinned over at me. I crossed my eyes at her and she stuck out her tongue, both of us announcing our annoyance with the class to each other. Yes by a simple crossing of the eyes or sticking out of the tongue, we can have full conversations.
"No." Mr. Heath answered, chuckling and shaking his head. He crossed his legs in front of him and briefly wondered why but than shook the question away. He's 24, extremely good looking and a teacher! Obviously there's something mentally wrong with him.
"Oh my god, are you serious?" No he's just yanking your chain stupid.
"Why not?" Get a life you twig! Mind your own business.
"Anything else?" Mr. Heath asked, avoiding the question. More girls and a couple guys joined in. The girls most likely wanting to honestly know but the guys wanting to get out of doing the assignment. "Alright, alright. That's enough, lets do the work." Mr. Heath stood up straight and started to go through papers on the desk. Some of the students tried to throw out excuses as to why we shouldn't do it but most of them were badly thought of. "Which reminds me, pass in your projects." Boy, he was good at completely ignoring everything everyone was saying. I groaned and buried my head in my arms, remembering how I shoved it off until the last minute than fell asleep and not having time to do it. "Hm. Miss Riverfold, I don't seem to have yours." I lifted my head to Mr. Heath, and most of the class, staring at me. I wondered how he knew my name but than saw him holding up a seating chart. It's pretty interesting how sometimes I'm so tired that I don't even care that I'm about to get in trouble.
"No." I affirmed the fact that I didn't turn it in. Mr. Heath nodded, frowning slightly.
"See me after class, alright?" The class ooh'ed at that and he quieted them down. He looked over at me with those bright blue eyes and I felt the need to take a spoon and pop them out, but thankfully I have amazing strength and resisted that urge. I nodded and he turned back to the class. While everyone else was busy drooling I was busy plotting his death. I've only known him 5 minutes and I already didn't like him. I mean, why's it matter if I don't turn in MY project. Its MY grade, not his. Prick...
"I'll see you at lunch." Xabrina gave a little wave and I nodded. She walked out of the class with a few of the students who didn't rush out and I stood up slowly, piling my stuff together. I completely ignored Mr. Heath who was going up and down the aisles, for what? I have no idea.
"This is my lunch period too." That's fascinating, really. "Why don't we go to the office?" I looked up at him and followed him into a small, cramped office. Two rooms were separated by one small office and the two teachers shared that office. He sat down behind the desk which basically took up half the office and I sat down in the brown chair across from him. "Why didn't you turn in the project?" I shrugged, figuring no matter what I said he was going to think I was just some lazy student. "The teacher before me left behind a list of student names she wanted me to try and help and your name is on the list. I looked over your tests since you hardly do your work and I'm guessing you don't understand it?" He asked, leaning back in the chair.
"I guess." I muttered. More like I found no need for it. My future job had nothing to do with science so why should I care?
"Well if you're willing to eat your lunch in here I can help you out. After or before school too if you want but I'm pretty jerk-ish in the morning so I don't think you want to work with me than." Half a grin appeared and I couldn't help let a little laugh out at that. I was a jerk in the morning too or so my family and my friends tell me. "That okay?"
"Sure." I shrugged. I wasn't much of a 'voice my opinion' person. Anyways I didn't want him calling home or anything like that happen so losing a couple lunches and after school's wasn't so bad. I would just start turning in my work, no matter if it was complete crap or what.
"Alright." He glanced down at a paper in front of him and looked up at me. "Journey, that's an interesting name." My parents are hippies and thought it was an 'awesome name, man'. But I don't say that, I just say-
"My parents are acentric." It's a lot better than 'they did a lot of drugs and aren't quite right in the mind anymore.' Though I loved my parents just sometimes their 'fight the power' and 'love and peace' things really got to me. "But most peoples names at this school are acentric." I mused after a second, getting over my hate for Mr. Heath.
"So I've noticed." He laughed and looked down the list, shaking his head.
"What's yours?" I asked suddenly, having no idea where that came from. He looked up at me and gave me a little smile which made my stomach feel like it was twisted in a knot. If you've never experienced that, let me tell you, its not a good feeling!
"Sebastian." I looked up and said the name out loud than his full name together, more slowly than was needed. Mr. Heath laughed and shook his head. I was glad my face was brunt slightly from being outside too long because I'm sure if I was my normal pale self, I'd be as red as a tomato. His laugh was throaty and deep.
"I guess I should be going." I said quickly, standing up too quickly and not noticing that my one foot decided not to function with my brain and twisted itself around the chair. I fell foreword and barely missed the desk. Mr. Heath was at my side in a second and looking worriedly at me. "I'm fine, I'm fine." My heart was beating so fast I could hardly breath and I can't remember a time when I was so embarrassed. When you bring friends over to the house only to find your parents completely nude because 'clothes are so unnecessary, people should feel comfortable in their own skin' it usually takes a LOT to embarrass me.
"You sure you're-" I sat up quickly, smashing our faces together.
"Ow!" We both shouted. He grabbed his mouth and I did also. Something warm and sticky was pouring in and out of my mouth.
"I think you hit your lip on my tooth." Mr. Heath explained, reaching over and grabbing some Kleenex. "Let me see your mouth." I took my hands away hesitantly. He lightly grabbed my chin, angling my face so if I looked straight ahead I was staring at his throat. He dabbed my bottom lip and I winced when it stung a bit. "Don't swallow the blood, spit into this." I spit into the cup, making a disgusted face as the blood splattered inside of it.
"I'm really sorry." I glanced up at him to see him grinning but when he noticed me looking he tried to hide the grin, and failed miserably too. "I'm kind of accident prone when I get tired and sometimes my body sort of falls asleep but doesn't tell my brain so I end up failing over myself. Usually I don't hurt anyone else and- sorry." Sometimes when I get nervous I either get really quiet or I start to babble. I wish I had just gotten quiet.
"Stop saying sorry, it was an accident. This shit happens." I looked up at him. His eye brows shot up when he realized what he just said. "Ah, shit- fuck!" He shook his head and looked down. I started to laugh, holding my stomach. He started to laugh in that throaty, deep way and soon we were leaning against each other, laughing. "How about tomorrow we just act like this never happened?" I lifted my head up from the spot on his broad shoulder and looked into his eyes. His smile slipped off his face as we stared at each other.
"Mr. Heath?" Both of us jumped, barely missing each others faces. We climbed to our feet quickly and I grabbed a few more Kleenex's, holding them to my cut that was still bleeding. Mr. Heath led the way out of the office and we were both met by the principle who was giving us a curious look.
"Small accident." Mr. Heath and I motioned to my cut lip and the principle nodded, looking more confused than everything.
"Bye." I grabbed my stuff, sparing them a smile before walking out of the classroom. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was trying to get out of my chest. I clumsily opened my locker and shoved everything inside before walking quickly to the bathroom. I washed face and pulled off my hoodie that had blood over the front. I grabbed some toilet paper since the cut hadn't stopped bleeding yet and headed to the cafeteria. I quickly spotted my friends and sat down heavily.
"What happened to you?" Otto asked, drinking some disgusting flavored water. Otto's dark eyes stared into mine and he always made me feel like he could just read my mind. Get out of here Otto, you're not welcomed!
"I busted my lip." I muttered around the toilet paper, already feeling the lip swelling up.
"How?" Xabrina asked, offering her fries and chicken nuggets to me. I shook my head, blood and fries probably tasted nasty together. Xabrina shook her shoulders and started to eat. If I had to describe Xabrina in one word it would be, stunning. Her black hair went down to her shoulder blades and was cut in many choppy layers and framed her oval face perfectly. Her pale blue eyes stood out from her darkly tanned skin, that was flawless by the way. She was tall and slender. Anyone who stood anywhere near her would feel like an ugly little rat.
"My foot fell asleep." I grumbled, still not happy with completely embarrassing myself like that. I thought of Mr. Heath and pushed the whole situation to the back of my head. Nothing happened. He's a teacher and I'm just some dumb 17-year-old girl with raging hormones. Damn hormones, I'm going to find a cure and kill you- oh chocolate milk, groovy!
So what do you think? Kind of boring, eh? Sorry, usually my beginnings are. Hopefully it'll pick up soon though. Please R&R and tell me what you think!
