I Have No Mother
By: Jasmine Pulchritude

When you're happy I'm happy
When you're sad I'm sad
That phrase sickens me because it's such a fad
If people feel that way it means they're in love
If people feel that way it means they're high above
High above emotionally, I mean
But who would've that that those two sentences were a code of life
A rule of life I had to follow
A rule set by my mother in times of both happiness and sorrow
But wait, I have no mother
As of today, at least
I have no mother, who would want such a wretched beast
Don't you people watch TV?
Don't you see what I see?
In all, or most, hit shows, there's a motherly problem
It's because that's typical, something that comes first to mind
A tortured daughter being harassed by a rude, selfish mother
I'm sorry that soon I may join their kind
But wait, I have no mother
As of today, at least
I have no mother, who would want such a wretched beast
So why am I complaining of such a person
One who would selfishly go to any length to achieve her own prize
But when it comes to her daughter, she's unable to find reason
Though, as I laugh, I tell myself that it comes as no surprise
There's nothing out of the ordinary of her running back and forth to go to school
and not care if her daughter is sick
I mean, wishing something so great of her would just mean
I'm being thick
It's not as if it's a mother's duty to watch over her children
No, the oldest one is there for that
But if I refuse to watch over, then in my face she'll spat
Because remember? She's happy, she's getting another degree
Asking anymore of her would be quite dreary
But wait, why am I complaining?
Because I have no mother
As of today, at least
I have no mother, who would want such a wretched beast
I have no mother as of today
As of today, I will live my life my own way
Because I have no mother
I have no mother
I have no mother
None.
