Chapter 8 - "Long Time Coming"

Jake opened his eyes and smiled at the sight of Beau in front of him waving his hands in front of his face. "Hello in there," Beau said. "Anyone in there?"

"Huh?" Jake shook his head as if he got lost daydreaming and looked down at this hands. "Oh sorry," he apologized. "I guess I just kinda kissed myself for a second."

"What?" Beau looked up from biting into his burger.

"I uhh... mean... lost."

"Oh, it's cool," Beau nodded and took another bite into his burger.

It was only around 9:00 pm when they both finished eating at Jack-in-the-Box. Just earlier Jake and Beau had a little fun at the bowling alley with the whole holding hands. They both sat in Beau's truck for awhile until Beau broke the silence. "So," Beau played with his hands on his lap. "Where else do you wanna go?"

"I absolutely have no clue," Jake laughed.

"Okay well just to let you know, I'm no good at this kind of game," Beau chuckled back.

"Me neither but you're the driver and it's really up to you to wherever else you wanna go."

"Alright," Beau started the car. "I guess..."

"Guess what?"

"I know a place where we can go," Beau pulled out of the parking lot and headed back into the night with Jake.

Kelly got up from her bed when her cell phone started ringing. "Sweet Jesus," Kelly grumbled. "It's freakin' 9 o'clock, why can't anyone just let me sleep." Kelly picked up her cell phone and recognized Jake's home phone number on the caller ID. "I thought he was out with Beau?" Kelly hit SEND and put the phone up to her ear.

"Hello?" a voice asked.

"You're not Jake," Kelly questioned her own mind.

"Uh, no, this isn't Jake," the guy on the other line laughed.

"You sound familiar," Kelly turned on her lamp on her nightstand next to her. "Jeremy?"

"Wow, you're pretty good," Jeremy laughed again.

"So why are you calling me?"

"I just well wanted to know how you were doing."

"Well if you must know," Kelly remarked. "I was trying to sleep."
"Oh, sorry."

"It's okay, so why are you calling me though?"

"What are you doing tomorrow night?"

"Nothing, why?"

"Well, I know this really isn't the best time to ask but---"

"Sure why not," she interrupted.

"Huh?" Jeremy's voice choked. "Oh umm cool."

"Well you are cute anyways," She stopped herself for a second and scolded herself because she was thinking out loud.

"Hahaha thanks, so I'll pick you up at 7?"

"Seven sounds good."

"Seven it is and yeah," Jeremy stuttered. "G'night."

"Night," Kelly hung up the phone and sat on her bed for a second. "Did he just....?" She nodded her head and smiled. "I think he just did." She turned off light and pulled her blanket over her head and went back to sleep awaiting for what was to come the next day.

Beau pulled up in the parking lot at the park near the school. "Well, here it is," Beau parked the truck got out.

"What are you doing?!" Jake yelled. "It's freezing outside!"

"Don't worry," Beau hung over the car door. "I came prepared."

"I'm sure you did," Jake zipped up his jacket and got out of the truck. He closed the door and looked around for Beau. "Holy shit, it's cold!"

"Over here," Beau called out to him sitting in the bed of the truck. Jake looked over at Beau and he was laying down in the truck staring up into the sky. Jake got in the back and sat down next to him. "Sometimes when I have time to myself all alone, I come here and just look at the stars."

"Oh," Jake looked down at Beau and smiled. "That's really interesting." Beau looked into Jake's eyes and smiled. "I'm serious, never thought you to be the romantic type."

"Trust me," Beau sat up next to Jake. "There's a lot you don't know about me."

"Really now?" Jake smiled and layed down. "Damn it's really cold."

"Here," Beau pulled out a blanket that was sitting next to him on the other side. "Take it."

"But what about you?"

"Don't worry about me," Beau layed his head down. "I'll be fine." Jake took the blanket and put it around his body.

"I don't like being selfish," Jake then gave half of the blanket to Beau and then realized he really was under a blanket with the man of his dreams.

"Thanks."

"Anytime Mr. Ego," Jake said. "Anytime." Jake and Beau laughed.

They layed there under the stars talking about each other back in middle school when they used to be friends. Including the time Jake, Beau, Courtney, Kelly, and Frank played truth or dare. "Yeah, it's actually a lot better when there are more people though," Beau said.

"Yup," Jake paused for a second. "Hey Beau?"

"What's up?" he looked over at Jake who looked over at him.

"Truth or Dare?" Jake smiled.

"Are you serious?" Beau smiled back.

"Truth or Dare?"

"Truth."

"Alright," Jake looked up and started thinking. "Okay, are you a virgin?"

"If you must know," Beau smiled. "No."

"Okay, your turn now."

"Alright, Truth or Dare?"

"Truth."

"Are you a virgin?" Beau smiled at Jake.

"Oh please," Jake laughed. "Well... yeah."

"Seriously?" Beau yelled.

"Yeah!" Jake's face flushed red. "But keep it down."

"It's not like anyone's gonna hear us."

"But anyways," Jake avoided the remark. "Truth or Dare?"

"Dare," a huge smirk came across Beau's and Jake's face.

"I dare you...." he thought for a moment. "I dare you... to do what is ever on your mind right now." Beau's smirk went away and he turned his head. "I was just kidding, it's okay. You don't have to."

"No," Beau said softly. "It's okay. A dare's a dare."

"Alright."

Beau turned his head back around and sat up still having the blanket covering him. He fiddled with his hands for a moment and looked at Jake.

"You sure everything's alright?"

"Yeah," He swallowed his breath and closed his eyes for a second. "Close your eyes for me."

"Sure," Jake closed his eyes knowing what might happen next. Beau licked his lips and headed towards Jake's face. His breath began to get heavy and he could also feel Jake's breath getting heavy too. He closed his eyes once more and moved closer to Jake's face. Their lips met and a cold chill went down Beau's spine. Jake lifted his hands and grabbed Beau's head gently and slowly pushed his head towards his. Beau lifted his own hands and brushed his fingers across Jake's cheeks. Their lips still locked but Beau pulled away slowly. They looked at each other and Beau's face went a cherry red. Jake smiled and licked his lips. Beau looked away and touched his own lips with his fingers then smiled.

"Alright," Beau said softly. "Truth or Dare?"

"Dare," Jake answered and smiled.
