Behold the ever timeless tidings
Of our friend the tides
We always know its ebb and flow;
We say it has no mind
But those waves mock us, yes they do
Washing over all that we conceive
For while the seas have not a thought
Neither do they possess our futilities

Behold the effortless, constant motion
Of our foe the tides
Men have claimed to conquer oceans
But the water pays no mind
Because those waves mock us, yes they do
Washing over everything we achieve
For all of our ways and petty frays
The waters have tenacity

Because men can drown;
Ships can sink
But the waters, well
They don't think
Systematic as time itself
Roll to and fro all in good health

Behold what man hath crossed the globe
The seas he has navigated
Used water for his daily needs
And has even tried to contain it
But those waves mock us, yes they do
And all of its uses that men have found
For it only takes time for canals and dams
'Till they all come crashing down

Behold what man has played his tricks on
Devised ways to avoid the sea
But bridges and airplanes are very forgiving
For they've never threatened water's continuity
Behold something so simple and true
That man has attempted to corrupt
But all of his actions are terminal
While the seas will never stop

Because men may drown;
Ships can sink
But the waters, well
They don't think
Systematic as time itself
Roll to and fro all in good health

Man may exploit
And man may build
But he'll never staunch
The water's will
When all our thoughts and monuments die
The seas will indulge in our forgotten lives
