Hurting All The While
She went to homecoming,
She went to school,
The whole time,
She played it cool…
She wore her black,
She forced a smile,
She tried to act happy,
Hurting all the while…
As the days grew cold,
And the nights grew long,
She always caught herself,
Singing her hurtful song,
As the words stung,
Her eyes burned with tears,
As she could now realize,
All that she fears…
She went to homecoming,
She went to school,
The whole time,
She played it cool,
She wore her black,
She forced a smile,
She tried to act happy,
Hurting… all the while…
As she thought about it all,
She turned away,
Too many painful thoughts,
Too much to say,
Holding it all in,
Just as everything before,
She came to the surface,
The pain she couldn't ignore…
All of this caused by her friend,
Who refused to take a Christmas gift,
Which left her feeling guilty,
And away the happiness began to drift…
She was in homecoming,
She was in school,
And no matter what,
She tried to keep her cool,
She wore her black,
She forced pained smiles,
She tried being happy for once,
Hurting herself… all the while…
