Shards of existence

On a butterfly wing.

Carefree and senseless,

They destroy everything.

Pent-up replusion

For the tear in the Eye.

Don't show emotion,

If you want to survive.

We watched them smother

In their petty distrust.

Take your prayers to another,

Cause we've had enough.

Unadorned remnants

Of a butterfly wing

Hold no resemblance

To what they should be.

It's living inside us

With its cast-iron sin.

We can't deny it,

So we're letting it win.

Church bells fall shattered

In the November mist.

A tragic disaster,

But we won't be missed.

Lonely, resplendent,

Just a butterfly wing.

Dead and dependent,

We don't feel a thing.
