Spring

I know now, I cannot rip you out of my heart.
You go deep in me, deep down to the ground
like the waters of a lake,
sequestered in the forest shade.
But the bitter tears are drying up,
the tears of blood are drying up,
the waves are getting calmer,
lighter, clearer, purer.
Out of the deep, deep spring that is my love
I can draw for you now
prayer after prayer.
