A/N: A short story in which is tragic and angst...I think. Song-fic a little but also death-fic.The songs are Come Clean by Hilary Duff and So Yesterday by Hilary Duff. The lyrics sort of work with the story but not that much. The next few chapters are reflecting off Reiiko's death. From close friends to other people's point of view on her birth to her death.

Hope you enjoy and please review to tell me what you think of it. -smiles-

Breaking Free

Let's go back
Back to the beginning
Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned

'Cause perfect didn't feel so perfect
Trying to fit a square into a circle was no life
I defy

Let the rain fall down
And wake my dreams
Let it wash away
My sanity
'Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm coming clean, I'm coming clean.

She knew. He knew. The two of them knew of what was going to happen. The remaining member of their team was dying. And she was the strongest of them too. The girl was kneeling helplessly on the ground, tears steaming down her cheeks while the boy looked from where he stood, eyes never leaving the dying body.

"Rika...she's not dying." the boy whispered. She can't be anyway. She just can't. It was probably just an illusion created by the enemies....

The girl paid no heed to the boy but kept sobbing. The girl lying on the ground was bloody and dirty. Her bright blonde hair and clothes were soaked in hers and some others blood and a bloody sword layed next to her. Her clothes were torn like the rest of the group but more bloodier than the other two. Her once shining sapphire blue eyes were now dull and lifeless.

The dying girl gave a small smile to her teammates and friends. "Guess I couldn't dodge it huh?" Her voice was forced out and soft.

"Reiiko...." the boy said in a near whisper.

"We can still save you!" the girl(Rika) said. "We just need to get you back to the village...."

Reiiko gave a cough which ended her to draw out blood. "No time, Rika-chan. I guess I should be thankful that I got him after he got me." She coughed again. "Did we complete the mission?"

Rika didn't answer but the boy spoke up. "Yes. We got them after you got...hit....."

Reiiko gave a smile. "Thank god then Hisoka-kun." She coughed more, blood spilling over her clothes. "Guess this is going to be how I die then...."

Rika hugged her suddenly, causing Reiiko to wince from the pain of her flesh wound and Hisoka to look away from the two girls. "Rei-chan! You can't die! We were suppose to grow old and die together!!! You still haven't fulfill your dream yet!!"

Reiiko rubbed Rika's back gently or at least tried to. "You can still fulfill my dream, Rika-chan."

"But it's your dream." Rika cried out, crying into Reiiko's bloody shirt. "Not mine. There's a difference."

Hisoka nodded in agreement as he looked back at the girl. "Rika is right, Reiiko. Just because nearly anyone can attain the position as the one who guards the Teline...well. You deserve that role, not Rika. Not that I'm calling her weak but...it's been your dream since you were young."

Reiiko gave a soft laugh. "Rika-chan deserves it as well as you. Besides, they wouldn't like me being the Teline's guard. They hate me because of what I've been in the past remember?"

Hisoka shook his head. "We can still heal you if we hurry."

Reiiko coughed more blood, spilling some on Rika's red hair, not really making a difference. "N-no t-time. Just r-remember this Hisoka-kun, Rika-chan." Rika let go of the girl and looked at her. Reiiko gave a small and soft smile. She lifted her hand to brush away the tears in Rika's eyes. "Never let go of your dreams. I will still look over you...even...after death...." Her hand fell from Rika's cheek and layed on the ground next to the body.

Rika's tears fell from her violet eyes, her hand clasping on to Reiiko's. "Don't worry...I'll fulfill your dream and make sure everyone hear of your name and respect it." She let go of Reiiko's hand and stood up. She waved her hand slightly and the three glowed a soft pale green light. They teleported out of the forest and right outside the gate of their village.

"What are we going to do? Kaili needs to know what happened to her strongest warrior...." Hisoka mumbled. Whenever he was near the village, he placed back his cold and loner mask.

Rika shook her head. She knew what he was going to say. "I'll go tell her. You stay out here. Guard her just in case." and she disappeared in a soft green light.

Hisoka sighed and kneeled beside Reiiko. Her eyes were closed and she looked like she was sleeping. Sleeping a very deep and eternal sleep.....

"Guess you were right." Hisoka whispered. "People do look like they are sleeping when they are dead." He looked up at the night sky, full moon shining bright over everything and stars sparkling like tiny lights. "Guess you will watch over us from Heaven then...."

Now, if you strain your ears and look closely at the area outside of the village gate, you might see a white winged angel with blond hair and blue eyes who would seem to whisper....

Dreams are ungranted wishes. If you wish hard enough, they'll come true before you know it.....

I'm sitting alone here in my room
Nothing to do but watch the rain fall from the sky
I see it as Heaven crying
And I know that I'm doomed to be alone forever
But even I try to forget that
And try to tell the others that I'm here
And I will protect the ones I love
And try to fulfill the dream that
Someone had wished to come true....

It was what Hisoka had written before he left on the mission a week after Reiiko, his trusted friend and teammate, had died.

If it's over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I'm just a bird that's already flown away

Laugh it off, let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven't you heard that I'm gonna be okay
