Basbousa ("Sweet fruit" in Egyptian)

My dear friend calls me this

Telling me I am sweeter than this native fruit

I hope to have the pleasure of eating it

Since I do admit to having a sweet tooth

In time I hope to learn more about him

I do so enjoy making him smile

He calls me a "walking miracle"

Among other fantastic affectations

I find them all touching and lovely

Whatever happens I pray we are both joyous

So our lives can be filled with sweetness

Just like the basbousa he is so fond of

And I know that all good things come to those who are patient

Happiness can't be far behind

All we must do is give it time.
