Chapter 1: How could you do this to me!

You know when your life is fucked up, right?

When things don't go your way in the least bit.

When you were brought up knowing something was gonna happen,

And yet you delude yourself about it.

And when the time comes,

To face what ever it is, it's hard as hell.

Well, that's what happened to me!!!

"Syri, Father has requested your presence," said a young woman with shoulder length black hair who looked to be about twenty years old. She stood there in her brothers room, watching his every move.

"What now?" mumbled Syri, not taking his eyes off the book he was currently reading. The young woman shook her head. Syri was always like that when reading, which was strange with his normal behave--- one wouldn't think him a bookworm.

"Come on short stuff," she replied, knowing that her statement would get his attention.

And it did, he hated being called short! Being 5'3 was NOT short!

"Fine, and I'm NOT short!" He all but yelled as he put down his book and got out of bed, sending a death glare to his older sibling.

"So, what does the old timer want Yuri?" he asked his sister casually.

"You know, you should really be more proper, it is unfitting of a prince to be so vulgar."

"Yeah so?" The young prince asked as he rolled his eyes.

"And you also need to learn some manners, considering--" His sister started, but stopped quickly as she caught her little mistake. It would not do for her to be the one to break the news to her brother.

However, she had not stopped before Syri had noticed her little slip up.

"…Considering what?" he asked, all of a sudden very interested in the conversation.

"Nothing."

"I know you're hiding something."

Yuri sighed and gave Syri a sad look, but she quickly looked away before he could notice it. She couldn't believe what her father was about to do. Her little brother was surely going to be pissed off when he heard the news. She just hoped he wouldn't be too angry. Yuri bit her lip a bit nervously as they exited the room together.

Syri stared at his sister, he knew that she was hiding something, but whatever that something was, he had no idea! By the look of it though, it was surely something big. And that could not be good; especially if it worried his sister. He took a deep breath as he opened the door.

Lord Kiyer smiled as his children entered the room, he took the moment to look at Syri and just notice how much he had grown. His son looked so much like himself when he was sixteen. And yet, he resembled his mother so much more; with his lavender hair that stopped right at his ankles. It was so different from his own short black hair. And those large expressive violet eyes, that at times, looked as much gray as his own. And with his heart shaped face, that reminded him so much of Syri's mother. Yes, he looked so much like his mother, but at least his son had gotten HIS well tanned elegant skin. Nothing like his mothers pale white features. And his son had also inherited his well formed nose, as Te'ra, his mate liked to call it; along with his mothers height, frame, and will power--- much to Lord Kiyer's amusement.

"Father."

Lord Kiyer snapped out of his gaze.

"Getting old," Syri smirked, he just loved teasing his father.

"Probably, but when will you, dear one, be able to look down on me?"

Syri glared at his father for his come back, he was a Lord damn it, he should not be so immature. Yuri chuckled as she watched her brother fume.

Lord Kiyer cleared his throat, getting his children's attention in the processes.

"Now, the reason I called you here Syri," the lord started in a calm voice.

"As you know; for centuries the Is'hia Realm and La'Ria Realm have been enemies. Well, Lord Toshiya of the La'Ria Realm and I have come to a compromise."

"What does that have to do directly with me?" Syri asked, not wanting to prolong this anymore than he had to.

"In order to achieve this, you must become Prince Keitaro's mate and intended."

"..."

"WHAT!!!" yelled an obviously outraged Syri as he glared daggers at his father. Followed by a string of curses that weren't at all suitable for a prince.

"Finished?" Lord Kiyer asked calmly, as his fingers entwined and he rested his chin on his hands. He stared blankly at his younger son, his gray eyes completely unreadable.

Syri stared at his father, trying to get understandable sentences to form in his head.

"Why are you doing this? I don't want to leave father! Please, I'm not even old enough to be married off," he said in a soft tone, making his older sister want nothing more than to comfort him.

"Can you not find another way father?" Yuri asked, finally speaking.

"I tried, but this is best for the Realm and as Lord, I must do what is best for my people."

"Even if it is at the sake of your owns son's happiness!" Syri asked, his anger starting to get a hold on him.

"You will be happy someday, you will fall in love just like your mother and I did."

"How can I? I haven't even met him! At least you and mother knew each other!" Syri threw out at his father. "I won't go and become the whore of some prince I don't even know! Anyways, I'm too young to get married, what about the whole two years courting rule?" Syri asked, as his eyes became glossy. He knew what happened in most betrothed marriages. They would marry and both would become unfaithful to one another, or the sub mate would become nothing but a way of bringing children into the world. That was not going to happen to him! He wanted to marry for love and only love!

"You will go, and that is final Syri. You knew you would be betrothed to someone at this age; even though your marriage is to commence sooner than usual; you will leave in a weeks time, and that is final. You are dismissed," the dark haired Elvin Lord said firmly as he looked away from his children.

"I am not going!" Syri yelled, storming out of the room, and heading towards his own.

Yuri sighed, gave her father a sympathetic look, and ran after her younger sibling. She entered his room to see him with his head on his pillow, crying like a child. She sat on the bed beside him, put her hand on his back and rubbed it, trying to be as comforting as possible.

"It's going to be alright."

"No, it's not!"

"Yes, it will. Now tell me, why don't you want to go?"

"Because! I don't want to become the mate of someone I don't even know! It's not fair! I'm the youngest, why do I have to do this?" Syri asked as he wiped the tears away from his eyes, groaning a bit when his sister kissed his forehead.

"Father would not do this if he thought you would be unhappy," His sister replied in a matter of fact tone.

"But I don't even know him!" he complained.

"You will get to know him in time,"she assured him.

"Bu-but, what if he doesn't like me?" Syri stammered.

"He would be a fool not to like you. You're quite the catch, he should count his blessing that he is to mate with such a beautiful elf,"she told him, as he rested his head on her lap.

"But I don't want to leave, I will miss you too much! And if Se ala' doesn't get back in time, I won't even get to say good bye!"

Yuri smiled at her younger brother and brushed his bangs out of his face.

"I'm sure Kyo will come see you off, and even if he doesn't, both of us will come visit. And so will Father," she said reassuringly.

"May I be alone now?" Syri asked as he sat up.

The older Elf smiled and nodded, kissing Syri on the forehead before exiting out of the room and closing the door behind her.

So, my life isn't fair
But what CAN an Elvin Prince do?
Why hope for the best?
So, my life is fucked up
I'll just have to deal with it!

With this thought in his head, Syri sighed and took the book off of his pillow. He laid back on his bed quietly and moved a strand of his lavender hair out of his face. He opened the book and started to read; he had to do something to get his mind off of his new problem!

La' Ria At Dinner

"What are you saying father?" A young elf with short silver hair and long bangs that were, at the moment, covering his left eye, asked. His skin was nice and pale, and he was proud to be a good 6'0 feet tall.

"I'm saying that you are to mate with Prince Syri of the Is'hia Realm," his father replied.

Prince Kei was an obedient young man; especially towards his Father and Mother. Well, ONLY towards his father and mother; but THIS, this was outrageous, even for him!

"I thought I was allowed to choose whom and when I marry," he stated as he glared at his father, his silver eyes piercing into Lord Toshiya's own narrow blue ones.

"Kei, it is best for our people. It will help them see that the feud between the Is'hia Realm and La' Ria is over," Lord Toshiya replied.

"It's been over for the past decade," Kei shot back at his father, not at all liking where this conversation was going.

"Yes it has, but you know that the people still see them as a threat! And you also know that neither side can venture into the others territory without fearing for their life!" the lord replied, trying to to make his son understand his point of view.

And Kei did see his fathers point, but that still didn't change anything. Nevertheless, he certainly didn't agreed with it!

"He will arrive in a week, so you better get used to it Kei."

Kei knew what tone his father had used, and he knew very well that it was best to leave it as it was. It would do him no good to argue with his father. He would just have to find a way to get out of this mess, he would have to find a way to make sure that this horror never happened.

"May I be excused?"

"Yes, you may," Kei's mother replied.

It had been the first time she had spoken since this discussion had started. And he could clearly see that her silver eyes were filled with nothing but sympathy.

"Thank you mother," he said as he nodded at her. He got up and walked towards her, he brushed a strand of her blond hair out of her face and kissed her tenderly on her cheek; just as he did every time he greeted her. He walked towards the door and turned around, and with an elegant bow, he exited the room; leaving his parents alone.

"So, how come you didn't say anything? That is very unlike you Mei," Lord Toshiya asked.

"I don't see any reason why he should be angry with me. I did not have a say in this compromise of yours Toshi," she replied, giving her husband a genuine smile.

"So, you disagree with mine and Lord Kiyer's plan?" he asked, raising an elegant brow at her.

"No," she smirked at him, "but by the glare he sent you, our son does."

"You're enjoying this," the lord said flatly.

"Yes, I am. Plus, from what I know of the young prince, he could be exactly what Kei needs to drop that shell he has built around himself," She paused, "besides, I get to plan a wedding!" she finished off cheerfully.

"You're crazy," the La' Ria Lord replied, shaking his head in complete and utter disbelief.

"Well, you married me!"

And with that, they both laughed, shared a kiss, and returned to their dinner. Both hoping that good things would come out of this marriage; both hoping for the best.
