a damp swamp of
so much slime, slither
bright green snakes
over such a wreckage of sludge.
vine-head hung lethargic
you sopping, leafy lump.

through the umbrage, eye
beetles, bulbous and black,
crawl the fungal face.
go eat a mushroom.

O, what a heaping mass of plant!
clogged with moss and slow
slugs. a deep down thump
a vegetable heart.

and struggling amidst the muck
a rare and noble blossom:
petals pillaged, delicate stalks
devoured. you slump upon
asphyxiate flowers, sick and choked.

and weep.
