Author's Note: I know what you are all thinking: Why in the world is Sunne starting a new story when she has two in the works on this site? What can I say? My muse was working overtime and this is the result. Plus, I wanted to try out a new style of writing. Enjoy!

Chapter One

"Expulsion, Duck Sweaters, and Uncertainty"

From the Desk of:

Principal Harding

Dryden High School

November 16, 2006

Dear Mr. And Mrs. Rodriguez,

I regret to inform you that the actions your daughter, Lacey Rodriguez, has chosen, violate more than half of our current school policies. Our faculty and staff members have tried every intervention available and are at a loss of what to do in regards to your daughter. You will recall the meeting you attended at the beginning of the school year in regards to this behavior and the agreement we arrived at. It is because of this, that I must express my wishes that Lacey not return to Dryden High School after Christmas break. Now would be a good time to look into other available schools to enroll your daughter in. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Top Secret Diary of Lacey Rodriguez

6:23 pm

This is completely and totally unfair. Old man Harding gets his britches in a twist and before I know it I'm being kicked out of school. As if life could not get worse, my inconsiderate excuses for parents have enrolled me in Belleview Boarding Academy. BOARDING Academy, meaning I will live there. How unfair is that? I don't even know how my parents can afford this place. I have a sneaking suspicion that Aunt Frieda is in on this. My life is doomed. My lame Christmas couldn't even make up for the monstrosity that I've gotten myself into. One word can encompass my entire Christmas perfectly: Aunt Frieda. Well, perhaps two words.

P.S. I'm grounded for New Year's Eve. The unfairness of it all!!!

To Do List for 12/29/06:

-Find a way to get out of this

-Avoid Aunt Frieda until she goes home next week

-Hide hideous duck sweater dear Aunt Frieda gave me for Christmas

Belleview Boarding Academy

January 2, 2007

Dear Miss Rodriguez,

I would like to welcome you to Belleview Boarding Academy. This fine learning institution has been educating the youth for over 100 years and we are proud to include you in our legacy. Typically, under normal circumstance, we do not allow students to transfer mid-year. However, your case is unique and we are willing to make accommodations for you as long as you display upstanding student behavior. Spring term begins Monday, January 8th and the dormitories open Sunday, January 7th. On behalf of the faculty and staff at Belleview, we are looking forward to your arrival.

Top Secret Diary of Lacey Rodriguez

7:31 pm

I'm all packed and ready to go. Everything I'm taking with me is crammed in our mini-van at the moment except for my diary and journal. I've parted sorrowfully with my friends and made extra certain that my parents know I'm not savvy on this whole boarding school thing (aka given them the cold shoulder). Everybody knows boarding schools are packed with little rich momma's boys and daddy's girls. I'll be surrounded by a mass of snobs and goody-two-shoes. My life is ruined!

To Do List for 1/6/07

-Too late to get out of this. On to Plan B: Devise plan to deal with this.

-Burn photo Aunt Frieda took of me in that hideous duck sweater she gave me.

7:49 pm

Mom caught me burning said picture of me in the duck sweater. Note to Self: Don't burn things directly under the smoke detector.

You see my actions

Upside down.

You hear my words

Inside out.

You see the negative exposure

Of who I really am.

You look at me and see

The backwards version of me.

You take me for wrong

And make decisions

Without properly

Thinking it through.

So here I am

On the eve of a great change

And I can't help but wonder

If all this uncertainty I'm feeling

Is in vain.
