Sonnet

What I love most is laughter in your eyes,

Their golden depths are sparkling like the sun.

The smoldering gaze within them never dies,

And makes me want to stay and want to run.

I'm drowning in the eyes that look at me,

Words catch in my throat and my heart beats fast

Both warm and cold, they shine mysteriously

And I'm unsure of how much time has passed.

Although you're sitting clear across the room,

Your eyes embrace me with their searching stare,

The fire in your eyes totally consumes,

And leaves behind emotions I can't bear.

You hold me with your eyes and I feel weak,

I smile; your capture of me is complete.
