I sighed.
The party wasn't anything I would call 'fun'.
A mass of people were dancing in the center of the room- if you could call it that, to me, it just looked like a huge group orgy.
I shuddered at the thought. Searching for my best friend I started the expedition around the house.
I cursed her.
It was her fault I was in this shit hole.
I remembered her begging for me to come. "Please Rayce! It's a great chance to meet new people." I had argued with her for hours. "I don't need new people, Shay!" But somehow she had managed to convince me to come. Now I suspected she was in a bedroom 'getting to know' a new guy.
Getting to know my ass.
I cursed out loud once more. "Not having fun, babe?" someone slurred behind me. I turned around to glare at the owner of the voice. A handsome drunk jock was smirking at me. I raised an eyebrow and left.
Proceeding to open random doors until I found Shay I opened the first one to my right. The room was dark and I couldn't get much out of it except when I found two figures wrestling in the messy bed.
My face burned as I turned to leave but I stopped when I heard it. "I said no!" I slowly returned my gaze to the bed. "Aw, baby, you know you want it." I slowly started towards the bed. "Please, stop!" The girl was starting to sound hysteric. With an unknown force I pulled from within, I shoved the guy off the crying girl. "What the -?" But no time was given for him to finish the question as my fist crashed straight into his jaw. He grunted as he fell backwards. It didn't take much to figure he was drunk off his ass.
Fuck. Drunken men with high ego were certainly not easy to fight.
Just as I was about to reach the now sobbing girl, a flying fist caught me right in my left cheek. Immediately I was greeted by an excruciating pain in my elbows, knees and most of all, my cheek.
The guy came at me with a slight stagger as he bended down and reached to grab the collar of my halter-top. I was finding it now hard to suck enough oxygen to breathe. His fist was elevated into the air; my eyes were tightly shut waiting for the final blow. There was a loud crash before my neck was released and a heavy body fell on top of me. Tiny glass shards were spread around the passed out man and me; who was making it entirely more difficult to breathe with each second passing. Throwing the heavy burden off me I managed to see the shaking body of the girl standing over me. With shaky legs I managed to stand up and I looked into the girl's face.
A wave of recognition passed over me. "Fey!?" she stared at me with a strange and confused look. "Rayce!" Arms were wrapped around me in a solid embrace. "Thank you, thank you, thank you-." I hugged fey back. "Whoa there girl, it's alright Fey, everything will be alright. Common I'll take you home." She nodded managing a shaky smile.
We managed to exit the house unharmed and we made our way to my white Honda Civic. Fey gave me the directions to her house, and was silent for the rest of the trip. I raised the volume to Taking Back Sunday's This Photograph is Proof. The ride ended and I stopped in front of an almost falling apart house. There was a nice black car in the driveway, meaning that someone was home.
I helped Fey out of her seat; she had somehow managed to sprain her ankle when the bastard tried to rape her. We made it slowly to her front door and she sat in the front steps. I knocked firmly on the dark wood door. It was opened slowly afterwards.
A drop-dead gorgeous guy greeted me. He looked at through long black bangs, and I managed to see he had dark green eyes. "What?" he asked in annoyed tone.
I took a step back. What the fuck was wrong with this guy? I was about to start screaming at him. When Fey interrupted my mental rant. "Blake" she said in a soft whisper. Blake looked over my shoulder to see Fey having a new wave of tears running down her cheeks. He jostled past me to hug Fey in a firm embrace.
"What the fuck happened?" He asked in a dangerous tone. Fey glanced at me with a hopeful hint. I sighed but nonetheless explained everything that had happened in the stupid party.
...And now we're here." I finished. Blake had a murderous glint in his eyes. He stood rigid and straight with his hands rolled into tight fists.
"Who was the fucker?" Fey shuddered while I shrugged. They embraced again, and I took it as my cue to leave. "I better get going."
Fey reached to me and hugged me tightly. "Thank you. Really." I hugged her back just a tight. "Glad to be of use." I said with a grin, she managed a shaky laugh.
I stared at her. Fey was beautiful. Green eyes with light brown hair down to her shoulder with white rays running through it. She had a to-die figure, and had a nice and caring personality.
"Night." I waved back at them before heading towards my car.
I arrived home at about 2 in the morning. Noticing the house was dark I knew my father was out in the bar again. I let a soft sigh before heading upstairs to bed.
Not even bothering to turn out the lights I just felt through my closet till I found my boxers and a comfortable tank top. I left the smoke infested clothes in the corner of the room and dove into my smooth bed. Snuggling into my crimson colored sheets I realized I hadn't washed my teeth or face.
Shit. Fuck that. And I closed my eyelids.
Beep. Beep. Beep. WHAM! "That's the fourth one this week, Rayce!" Dad yelled from down stairs.
I groaned. Covering my head with a pillow. "Wake up sweetie!"
"No." I grumbled. "It's your own fault for going to a party on a Thursday!" I wanted to scream at him to shut up, but I knew it would take a lot more to shut my chirpy father in the morning.
I sat up while scratching my head. Throwing the covers off me I began my journey across the room towards the bathroom. There were all kinds of stuff over the floor. Starting from books, clothes, shoes, belts and make up. I stepped on a bright blue hairbrush.
"Fucker!" I yelled out before falling to rub incessantly at my injured foot. Grabbing the offending brush, I flung it across the room, watching as it hit the wall before bouncing into an unknown place beside the junk in this room.
I managed to get safely to the bathroom with no more incidents. And I cursed when I looked into the mirror.
"Shit" I watched my left cheek with remorse. There was a nasty purple and green bruise. I put myself on the mission to castrate the fucker.
Other than that I wasn't that bad looking. Very light brown hair fell to my mid back with black rays running through it. My eyes were a dark blue color; they were apparently my best feature. My body was fit but I wasn't a freaking Barbie. Unlike some weight obsessed preps I didn't like to watch what I ate. I liked to eat. Screw diets.
Turning away from the mirror I grabbed two brown towels from the rack and put them on top of the closed toilet seat. Taking a warm bath was a greatest relief. I washed my hair with a mango and coconut smelling shampoo. I wrapped a towel around my body and one around my hair before returning to my room. A.K.A. battleground.
I put some worn out jeans and a black tank top before putting a red The Used shirt on top of it. I found one of my black and gray-checkered vans underneath the bed and one hiding in the closet, before grabbing my lime green backpack.
Wasn't I one to match greatly? Riight.
I applied a layer of black eyeliner and some chap stick before putting my hair in a messy bun with some bangs falling out to frame my face.
"Rayce! You're going to be late!" Dad yelled. "Coming! I'm coming!" I grumbled before jumping noisily down the stairs. I grabbed a pair of cinnamon Pop Tarts before kissing dad on the forehead. "Bye dad!" I turned away before he could see the dark spot on my cheek.
"Bye Sweetie"
I drove to school and got there I record time. When I noticed I wasn't late for class I made a small victory dance. Some cheerleaders looked at me strangely. They were ignored.
"Rayce!" I heard Shay yell before I got to the main entrance. She was disentangling herself from a guy with a purple Mohawk dressed in black.
I raised an eyebrow. "Where were you?!" I blinked. "What?"
"At the party Rayce! Do you know how worried I was about you.." She continued ranting and I just blocked her out.
Purple Mohawk guy left her side and went to greet his friends before lighting a cigarette. "Are you even listening to me?" Shay all but screamed. "What?" she looked at me with disappointment. "Oh, yes, of course" I added.
She rolled her eyes.
She gasped when she noticed the purple monster glaring at her from my cheek. "What the fuck happened to you, Rayce!" She screamed. I glared at her. "Shut up Shay" I turned to see who had heard us only to see Purple Mohawk and his friends studying us. That's when my eyes met dark green ones.
I gasped. Yesterday's hottie! Blake. There was a sign of recognition in his face. He said something to his friends before making his way over toward us.
"Rayce! Tell me what happened!" Shay warned. I was about to shut her up before I realized Blake had arrived. I avoided dark green orbs and instead found myself studying the cement floor.
"Look, I just want to thank you for what you did for my sister." Blake said.
I gasped and stared at him in shock. "Fey's your sister?"
"Step-sister" he corrected himself. His eyes studied my face before landing on my cheek. I turned away.
"It was the least I could do." I mumbled softly. He nodded before leaving.
Shay was staring at me. "You like him" She stated simply.
I turned away sharply from Blake's retreating back to look at her in shock. "I do not!"
I could feel my face begin to burn. "You're blushing Rayce." Shay looked amused. I just glared at her. "He's cute you know." Shrug.
"Well if you don't like him, then you won't mind if I – you know.." "NO!" I yelled surprising both Shay and myself.
"So you do like him!" She exclaimed in triumph. I rolled my eyes.
"It will never work, Shay"
"Why not!?" She cried. "I don't know him, and besides what if he has a girlfriend?" I asked confidently.
"Well, I could just ask Bold." Shay said.
"Who's Bold?" An image of Purple Mohawk flashed into mind.
"Ooh"
