More Than Just a Grain of Salt

"High school will be some of the best years of your life," says the guidance counselor, whose job is to hear about everyone's problems.

"Get involved and you will have such a wonderful time in high school," says the teacher, to the overloaded student she just assigned a 6-page paper to.

"Grades really don't matter," says the adult with the secure job.

"Shoot for the moon and if you miss, you'll land on one of the stars," says the book that clearly has no ass to land on.

"It pays off to be who you are," says the motivational speaker who's being paid to tell you that.

"You did a great job," says the director you're auditioning for, who gives the part to someone else.

"If you try hard enough, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to," says the parent, who badly wants to make it true for you.

"Any dream will do," says the song sung by the girl who is not standing in the background, a prop with a heartbeat.

Well, we all have our favorite little lies, now, don't we?
