The gentle mourning
wind caresses my face
Tears create a stain
Upon my cheek
A
knife plunges into my chest
Though not a knife made
Of ordinary
metal
Forged in hellfire
And bejeweled with my guilt
Glistening
blood-red and
And a hopeless midnight blue
They wink and laugh
at my misery
As life flows from my body
I notice the sun
setting
The brilliant ball of gold
Disappearing
behind
Relentless waves of the deep sea
I know it's time to
leave
A saddened wail breaks the silence
And it is over
