Maybe I shouldn't have danced.

Maybe I shouldn't have sung.

But I flew out into the rain,

Taking in the sweet smell,

Breathing in the cool air.

I spun and laughed,

Feeling my skirt spin with me.

Watching as it flared up

In a huge circle around me.

I skipped, and it skipped with me.

The rain, coming down on my face,

Kissing my cheeks,

Stroking my hair.

And here I was,

Spinning, laughing.

My legs, open to the wind,

Bare to the sky's teardrops.

My bare feet playing with the pavement.

My face, smiling up at the sky.

And here I was,

Dancing to myself.
