I woke up and looked at the clock sitting on the night stand next to the bed. It was 10:41. I slowly made my way out of bed and to my newly organized closet. I rubbed my eyes and looked for something to wear. I decided on a pair of shorts and a cute yellow shirt. I grabbed my sunglasses and cell phone off of the night stand and headed down stairs. The smell of pancakes drifted through the house.
"You fell asleep early last night," Uncle Johnny said.
"Yeah, I was super tired," I replied.
Uncle Johnny got a plate out and set it infront of me with a fork and a knife along with it. He put two pancakes on my plate to start out with. I grabbed the syrup and drown the pancakes in it. It's the way my mother used to do it.
"These are delicious!" I exclaimed with my mouth full.
"Glad you think so," he said.
Aunt Jen walked down the steps looking glamorous (as usual) with her blonde hair down in loose curls. She kissed Uncle Johnny on the cheek and grabbed a plate to join me.
"Are you going down to the beach today?" She asked.
"Probably," I said as I put my orange juice glass down.
"Have you made in any new friends?" Uncle Johnny asked.
"There's this one boy-" I was cut of my Aunt Jen.
"A boy?" She said with over exaggerated emphisis on the word "boy".
I rolled my eyes and said, "Yeah, his name is Tyler."
"Well, it's a beautiful morning, you could head out after breakfast if you wanted," Aunt Jen said.
I nodded. After I finished off my pancakes and washed it down with the rest of my orange juice, I grabbed my beach bag and headed off to the beach. When I got there, I wasn't suprised to see Tyler. I sat down and got out my book. I read about two pages before Tyler walked up to me.
"Hey, it's you again," he exclaimed.
I smiled, again not sure what to say.
"You wanna go get some ice cream or something?" He asked.
I smiled and said, "Yeah, sure!"
"Well, c'mon!" He said and helped me up.
I grabbed my beach bag and we walked to Seagull Sno-Cones and Ice Cream.
"I'll have a chocolate cone," said Tyler. "What do you want?"
"I'll have the same," I said.
He whipped out his wallet and paid the woman at the register.
"I'll pay you back," I said.
"Don't worry about it, my treat," he said.
"So, how long are you here for?" he asked.
"Until the middle of August."
He nodded. We sat down at a table outside.
"So, how old are you?" I asked.
"Fifteen, you?"
"I'll be fifteen in two months," I said.
He nodded. "Hey, you wanna go see a movie tonight or something?" He asked.
I'm pretty sure my heart skipped a beat. "Like a date?"
"Yeah," he said with a smile.
"Sure," I said and smiled.

I got back to the house about an hour later. It was about 4:30. I was supposed to be at the theater at 7:00.
"Uncle Johnny?" I called down the hall.
"In here," he called from the living room. He was probably watching baseball.
I walked down the hall and into the living room.
"What is it?" He asked, muting the TV.
"Uh, is it okay if I go to the movies tonight?" I asked.
He smirked, "With Tyler?"
I smiled, "Yeah."
"What time are you supposed to be there?"
"Seven."
"Okay, better go get ready," He said.
I nodded and it was settled. I ran up the stairs and got a shower. I dried my hair. I hated when my hair air dryed, it made it all frizzy. I decided to wear it down. Crap, I needed to figure out what to wear. I decided on a white halter top and denim capris. I looked myself over in the mirror. I thought I looked pretty. I glanced at the clock. It was 6:00. What was I gonna do for the next thirty minutes?
I watched the end of the ball game with Uncle Johnny. The doorbell rang. Uncle Johnny looked at me. I nodded towards the door.
"What? You want to make him wait for a couple of minutes?" He asked.
I smiled and ran up the steps, "Don't grill him, please."
Uncle Johnny laughed. When he knew I was out of site he opened the door.
"She's not quite ready yet, so come on in," Uncle Johnny said.
I made sure they sat down for a good four minutes and walked down the steps. Tyler stood up and stared for a minute.
"You ready?" He finally asked.
"Yep," I said.
"I'll have her back before ten," he told my Uncle.
My Uncle nodded and smiled and said, "You two have a good time."
Tyler opened the door for me and we were off.
