portraits vol. II: S n a p s h o t s

prelude: pilgrims

wayfarers we are
marching in sylvan streets
trailing Piper's hymn

we fall, we stand
stumble, traipse, wade and race
frolic and strut

but we'll never know
the stories underneath
the tears and the grins

for mere strangers we are
trading glances 'long the way

whilst looking my way
you limn a portrait in m'mind
one that reflects me

for i, a pilgrim like you
walking th'pilgrimage of life

& i've been wond'ring . . .
will l look the same if i
am living your life?

a/n: it's a combination of three haikus and a couple of tankas.
