As soon as Mabel and Aaron had exited her house they started walking down the street.
"Don't you have a car?" Mabel asked.
"Yeah, I do," he said, "But I thought we could walk. I mean, if that's okay with you?"
She nodded. "Sure, but is it far?" she asked, wrinkling her nose.
He pulled her close to his side. "No, it's not that far," he said, and they broke away, but still held hands.
She looked up at him and smiled. "I'm really glad we could go out together," she said, looking up at him dreamily.
He could sense the dreaminess in her voice and he stopped to look at her. "You're so beautiful," he said, looking deep into her sky blue eyes.
She smiled helplessly and looked away momentarily before looking back into his deep brown eyes. "Thanks," she said, tucking a brown curl behind her ear.
He smiled at her. "And adorable too," he said, taking her hand in his again and continuing the walk.
She giggled and kept walking.
Brett stood up and walked across his basement, still miserable and having have grieved over his situation.
"You've got to stop beating yourself up about this," Dabria said, leaning against the wall and looking at him sweetly.
"I know," he said, scuffing his feet against the ground. He slid down against the wall till the ground and just sat there for the longest time. Suddenly he sprung up and ran over to her, pulling her around in a circle and laughing with her.
"What has gotten into you?" she asked.
He stopped. "I just got it!" he said.
She raised her eyebrows. "And it is?" she asked.
"You have to tell her," he said. "You have to tell her how I feel!"
She looked at him sadly. "Didn't you do that already?" she asked.
"Yeah, but…YOU DIDN'T!" he said, excited.
She chuckled. "Oh Brett, I want to help you, I really do, but you have to let it go. She doesn't like you like that," she said.
He fell to the ground again. "Yeah…I guess," he sighed. "Man, how am I gonna get over her?" he asked.
"Well, you admitted that you need to. You've already completed the first step," she said.
He smirked. "Thanks Dabria. I feel so much better!" he said sarcastically.
She chuckled again. "Look, I know it doesn't feel good right now, but you'll see," she said.
"What? What will I see?" he asked.
She shrugged. "I don't know, but I've got to go. See you tomorrow," she said, heading out.
"Wai-wai-wait a minute!" he said, chasing her up the stairs and getting in front of her. "You can't leave! What am I supposed to do here without you? I mean, it's a good couple hours before I go to bed and—"
Dabria put a hand over his mouth. "Shush yourself, Brett. You'll be fine, and you can always call or e-mail if you need to, okay?" she said.
He nodded unsurely. "Yeah…I guess," he said, staring at the floor.
She hugged him. "Bye," she said and headed out the door.
"Bye…" he whispered, and headed back into the basement as he heard the door shut behind him. "Guess it's just you and me," he said, staring at the pool table. Then, he sighed and he fell to the floor. Oh boy…
"We're almost there," Aaron whispered to Mabel.
She smiled helplessly. They were heading up to a semi-fancy restaurant, holding hands the whole way. But when they finally got inside and Aaron took their coats to the hangers, with Mabel trailing behind, they heard an all too familiar voice.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Aaron," the voice said.
They both spun around completely stunned. Aaron put a disgruntled face on and Mabel looked anything but happy.
"Sasha," they both said.
She winked at Aaron and smiled wildly at him. "Long time no see," Sasha said.
