Here it is the last chapter, full of lots and lots of fluff. I don't usually like fluff scenes but I thought a romantic story should end with one any way. Read and enjoy, and remember to review.

Chapter 9

Saying Goodbye

"Good riddance." Jenna said after watching Sever Raith disappear out of sight. She then got up with a great amount of difficulty from the cark park floor and went to stand at Jack's side. He did not seem to know she was there. At the moment his eyes were glued to the huge red lifeless body of Alamais lying nearby.

"I can't believe it's over," he whispered. "I'm free after nine years. I'm free." He turned to her with a big grin on his face and caught her up in his arms. "I'm free, Jenna!"

"I know." She laughed as he spun her around. "That was what I was going for. I told you I would."

He put her down, but he still held onto her as he stared into her eyes lovingly. "Yeah, you did."

He then pulled her body tightly against his with his good arm and swooped down to catch her lips in a passionate kiss. Jenna was thrilled as she willingly molded her lips softly with his. She could feel the scorching heat caused by their contact pooling at the bottom of her spine and traveling hotly through her veins, and it drove her to tangle her hands in his soft black hair and angle her head slightly, allowing him to deepen the kiss further.

The kiss seemed to go on forever because neither wanted to stop the delightful electrifying connection that they had created. Jack was clearly more experienced than she was but he was gentle and patient therefore giving her time to adapt, but when she nibbled and sucked gently at his lip Jenna could not help smiling with feminine pride when his eyes widened in surprise. She always thought herself a fast learner.

It was only when Jenna felt Jack's hand gently stroking the sensitive skin under her school blouse she pulled away, laughing nervously. It was too much at one time for her.

"Um…we better go to your house and take care of our wounds. We're both pretty banged up." She could feel herself blushing nervously and she ducked her head to hide it.

Now, he probably thinks I'm an immature little kid. She reluctantly raised her eyes to meet his face, and expected to see scorn there, but she was surprised to see understanding in his emerald eyes.

"Yeah, we should get going." He agreed, and then placed a soft kiss on her forehead and wrapped his coat around her shoulders to keep the chill from coming through her ripped blouse. "I'll bet you're tired too." And he lowered himself to the ground. "Come on, I'll carry you piggy back."

That's how Jenna found herself resting her head on Jack's comfortably warm back as he carried her along a dusty road under the starry night sky. She sighed contently as she listened to the steady thumping of his heart.

"This had to be the best adventure I've ever had in this world." She said dreamily. "I never thought I'd find someone like you here."

"Well that makes two of us." He answered simply.

After a pause she asked. "Did you really mean it when you said you loved me?"

A chuckle made his back shake under her. "Do you even have to ask? You know I did, Jenna. You knew on that roof today that I loved you, just as I knew you loved me."

"Yeah." she whispered and she snuggled into his back with another contented sigh. Then she suddenly realized something. "Hey, where's your glasses?"

He smiled and shrugged. "Well after Alamais threw me clear across the car park, that was kinda the end of them. I only need them to shoot any way, so it's not a problem right now."

"Good, because you look kinda dorky in them."

"Hey." he cried out defensively.

"You do," she said with a giggle. "I'm glad their gone, because now I can see your eyes clearly, and I love to look into them. They were the first thing about you that I fell in love with."

"It wasn't my rugged good looks?" he joked.

"No." She gave him a playful thump in the back, but then after some thought she whispered in his ear slyly. "Even though those helped."

He chuckled. "I knew it. No one can resist my charms." In response she pulled at his cheek until he made her stop by pretended to drop her to the dusty path they walked along. She shrieked and wrapped her arms more tightly around his neck. "You idiot! Cut that out!"

He laughed and settled her more securely on his back. A comfortable silence settled over them, both just enjoying the others presence and the beauty of the night as the millions of stars in the sky shone down on them. It was simply perfect.

"You know," Jack's voice was soft as it came out into the stillness of the night. "I fell for your eyes as well. When I first saw you I thought they were those most breath taking things I have ever seen in my life. I think you have some powerful magic in them."

Jenna was silent in thought for a second before she spoke. "I suppose they do. My dad always my eyes were powerful." She sniggered. "He said that they could always make him do whatever I wanted."

"I bet like me, you had him wrapped around your little finger." Jack smiled.

"I have you wrapped around my little finger?" she asked in surprise.

"Well yeah. If I didn't I would never be carrying you on my back. Jeez, for a midget you sure are heavy?"

With an enraged scream she proceeded to pull his ears until he desperately yelled his apologies. "Smart-ass." she growled fiercely and let him go with a huff.

She planned to not speak to him for the rest of the night, but she suddenly felt something that made her feel like her insides were shriveling up, and her heart instantly sank down to her shoes. "Jack." She managed to whisper even though she was fighting a sob rising in her throat.

"What is it?" his voice was alarmed at the sudden distress radiating off of her. "Are you in pain?"

Jenna was able to steady her voice but she could not help the few tears that trickled down her cheek. "I have to go soon, okay?" He abruptly stopped and was motionless, but Jenna could feel his back muscles tensing under her and she gently began massaging them with small languorous circles in attempt to calm him.

After what seemed like an hour Jack asked solemnly. "How do you know?"

"I can feel it." She mumbled against his shoulder. "It feels like my body is disappearing from the inside out, and then finally I will just disappear. I told you this would happen eventually."

"Yeah," he said bitterly, and continued to walk. "But I didn't think it would happen so soon."

She lovingly wrapped her arms around his neck and sighed. "Let's just make due with the little time we have left, okay?"

"Yeah," he mumbled rather sadly. "But I hate saying goodbye."

Jenna could not help laughing when she heard a small sniff come from him. "Are you crying? Who's the girl here?"

"Hey, give me a break." The tears were apparent in his voice now. He wiped his eyes with the back of his sleeve and shook his head firmly. "You're really getting under my skin, girl. This is the second time I did this today." Then he added miserably. "I don't know how I'm going to deal with not having you here with me."

"You're such a puppy." She said whispered and placed a soft kiss on the back of his neck. She could not help feeling touched at how strongly he was affected by her. She suddenly remembered the dog in the alley way, and she gave a joyful laugh and ruffled his dark hair playfully"Good boy." she cooed at his ear. I saved you, now your heart belongs to me.

"What?" was his confused response.

"Oh nothing, my love." She said, and began tracing her name at the back of his neck with a small smile on her lips

"Why do I suddenly feel I should be very frightened of you?" By the sound of his voice she could tell he was smiling as well.

Jenna leaned over until she was staring directly into his emerald eyes and she smirked. "That's because you should be." She leaned closer, and only when their lips were an inch apart she whispered huskily. "Be very afraid, my sweet Jack, because this is not the last you've seen of me." Then she pressed her lips firmly against his, putting every ounce of her love, devotion, and happiness into it to emphasize the meaning of her words. Judging by the glazed enamored look in Jack's green eyes, she knew that there would be no doubt in his mind that she spoke the truth.

Jenna grinned at him slyly and asked. "Do you hate saying good bye so much now?"

At first he did not answer, but then his eyes seemed to ignite with a fire from deep inside him and he looked at her with a feral grin on his face. "Not so much now, no.

Gradually, Jenna felt herself begin to disappear, and even though it pained her to leave him, she was able to smile at him adoringly. "See you soon my love. Stay safe for me."

"I will, and I'll be counting the seconds until we meet again, my Angel."

He continued to look into her eyes until she completely disappeared, and when she was gone he was left standing on the dusty road under the same night sky he had just shared with her. He was alone, but in his heart he knew he would never be really alone ever again. She had promised she would come back, and he also believed that nothing could ever keep them apart, because his newly restored heart had been connected to hers that day, and not even two powerful dragons had been able to keep them from losing each other.

Jack looked up at the sky and was able to admire the stars with a smile on his face.

It was truly a beautiful and perfect night.
