She and I

(How could she have known?

My one true weakness…was her.)

She's laughing.

Dark silken hair brushes my fingertips-

Her scent and touch send me reeling.

I'm shaking.

Sweet, silent shadows dance on the walls

While a candle's flame melts wax of blood.

She's sighing.

The black shadows beckon,

Changing the world to make it alright.

I'm screaming.

The sun's last rays die on our bodies

Leaving us alone with each other and the dark.

She's searching.

She touches me again, bringing me close

To stave off the loneliness that brought us together.

I'm crying.

The darkness won't have us-

At least not tonight.

She's smiling.
