Fiercely, for days, the battle still rages,

Another just like all the ones before.

Presently in its most intense stages,

A situation too great to ignore.

With no mercy, the dread enemy moves;

Exploiting weakness, depleting my strength.

This failing defense of mine only proves

They'll go to any necessary length.

For a moment I think--what if I lost?

Could I give in to my unearthly foe?

'T would bring short pleasure at too high a cost.

'T is greater to persevere through the woe.

I know that when this hard battle is won,

I'll have victory--the King already won.
