Night follows the horizon like a heart
A streaming song like an inverted dart
The forest fallen, still, she stands
A woman with empty, empty hands

His shadow lingers around every tree
She fell to meet him, chose to see
He reached towards her, eyes forlorn:
Understood, and chose only to mourn

Flinching hard he hears her cries
Turns his face from her truthful eyes
The repeating waves of sorrow increase
She can't keep them hidden underneath

Hopeful face, summoning chance
Offering herself to another long lance
Her tears fall through her dimming dream
He is her bright, eternal beam

He holds her closer like a drawn arrow
She loves him more than he'll ever know
